      @tig said:

      You can assign layers to any drawing element or to a group/component even where it's contained geometry is on Layer0 ?
      If you want to export your stuff that's made on specific layers do so - a 3D DWG export will retain the layers: 2D doesn't, but simply make a top view, perspective off and export as 3D to keep layers ???
      There's even my export_by_layer plugin than exports just the stuff on each layer as separate files [any export format]...

      Thanks for the info. I'll give it a whirl.

    • DWG Export by Layers

      Hello all! I am investigating a software solution for a gig where I just produce floor plans based on measurements of commercial spaces. These are very simple drawings that are used for marketing purposes, but the company always provides a DWG in addition to a PDF.

      I am an advanced user of Sketchup, so producing the drawings would be very easy and fast for me, but I am running into a problem with layers translating over to DWG. I know that Sketchup does not offer this functionality, but I am wondering if there is a plugin or roundabout method that I can use to accomplish this.

      If this is not possible, I was wondering if the community could recommend the fastest, easiest and most affordable program to achieve this simple result? I won't need to build off the drawings, or import them into Sketchup unless needed for PDF export. I just need to output PDF and DWG files in the style illustrated below.

      Thanks!
