little update..changed the wheels/tires.. and added some reflections of the background image..and of course, a driver.. any help is greatly appreciated..thanks.

yeah..maxwell 1.5 now has a 'shadow channel' option.. so there was a plane on the ground with a specific material that only renders shadows.... so the original render + alpha render + shadow render..and paste over the photo in PS.. i do need an HDRI light source though for the chrome..

..found this model and felt it had to be used somehow Wink and then got inspired by some really cool images in the maxwell forum...

here is my first pass... missing a front wheel and driver.. also think it needs to be facing the camera a bit more? and a bit of blur to the wheels.. this is a WIP... any help is appreciated!

it was a planned c section...but good thing it was b/c she was 8lbs 6oz and my wife is only 5 feet tall...they had a hard enough time getting her out as it was

ok...here is the update (a little belated)... Emmy Mae was born last thursday, the 17th....she's beautiful and everyone is doing great!!

i agree...these are definitely not bad.. i like the third.. the composition is almost there... just not feeling the right part of the image...keep going!

yeah, this is awesome paul! i'd agree with robert... a little speed might help... i know you want to showcase the detail..

definitely an informative post.... probably 50% + of my work is 'just' modelling for clients...soooo, doesnt apply... but definitely helpful....thanks for bringing it up.

thanks scott.... there actually are a bunch of different light sources am overall skydome, about 5 downlights (you can see the scallops on the upper left), undercabinet lighting, and the pendants.... lighting is always my big weak point..haha

yeah..i'm not thrilled with the brushed metal scale either..didnt really notice til it was too late to start.. and i did have a hard time with geting the stair textures to look right..

the lighting works for me i think, though.. always have a tough time with lighting.. supposed to be whiter light in the foreground from the window.. and warmer light in the kitchen from downlights just above.. maybe some color correction is in order..unfortunatley, it looks different on both my monitors

here's an update.. kind of considering this the 'final' b/c i dont really have any more time to play with it.. let me know what you think..

google also has a nice patent search..... used it recently and found like 5 previous patents for my 'new' invention...lol... good luck!

what if you raise the tanks up an eighth or a quarter inch to get a tiny shadow under it? i find this helps...
