      I presume you are talking about creating solids? You can type in the dimensions first or resize the objects after you have drawn them. To type them in first you need to type into the "keyboard entry" box. See image 1.

      OR To resize afterwards click on the modify tab and change the dimensions of the shape that you have already created. See image 2.

      Better still, save yourself the headache of Max and just use Sketchup!

    • RE: Render Poll

      I haven't voted. My rendering knowledge is at best rudimentary but I agree with Solo, the software cannot be judged like that - unless you have access to all of it and a really thorough knowledge.

      Speed and cost is actually my main criteria because I am not paid primarily to produce rendered images. I use Kt mainly but my renders are really basic compared to what gets posted here. My work tools/skills are what I've got, not what would be on my wishlist.

      Having said that; rendering comparisons of the same scene; I can't see any reason not to try it.

      Thanks, Very useful. I know lots of firms that will be interested in this.
      Do you know how the software fairs with different rapid prototyping systems? Also it would be interesting to know if any of the self builders like Reprap or Fab@home have tried it.

      I wonder if it is actually quicker than a mouse if your drawing strokes are not very accurate.

      I don't think drinking milk is wrong or unhealthy but the fact that no other animal drinks it after infancy can't just be put down to them lacking the opposable thumbs to open the cartons. Or maybe it can. But adult animals could still suckle other animals if they wanted milk.

      I'm not a pillar of health but I haven't drank milk for about 20 years (no particular ethical reasons, just don't like the stuff) and I don't have any deficiencies that I know of.

      Marc that is a great idea. I have just done a site model that involved a similarly laborious process.

      Also Google! If you are listening, why does the "Get Location" tool bring in black and white GE maps, can we have colour please?

    • RE: What to charge for Commercial Buildings

      This is a common question on the forum. The stock answer tends to be something like;
      It is impossible to answer as pricing depends very much on the demand for your skills and the value of the dollar/pound/euro and other economic factors in the area that you are working.

      My opinion is that the only common denominator is the fact that you have to make enough money to live on. If a client is offering you a one-off job, the rate for that should be at a premium, as opposed to a client that has an ongoing stream of work that will keep you busy for some time.

      @unknownuser said:

      the CERN institute where the LHC is being built invented the World Wide Web, as a fastest method for sharing information with its scientists from around the world, working on LHC components. You are talking here thanks to the LHC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I dare anyone to say that the web is useless.

      For another example breast cancer sensors came directly from particle collision research in the CERN
      How anyone can anyone think that nothing good will come of quantum physics research?!

      Sorry to split hairs but Cern did not "invent" the world wide web. Many years ago I researched this subject for part of my university dissertation (addmittedly not the best essay) but I'm sure that Arpanet developed by the U.S. Department of Defense was the original form of the world wide web, or at least the first large scale internet medium that actually worked. Cern might have developed it but they didn't invent it.
