Wow ! Thanks everyone for your fast answers ! I wish I could get appointments with my dentist that quick...

Making the circles with more segments as dale said is the deal..here the circles are with 40 segments .
The shapes over the glass are obtained with intersection..

      All the best!

That's exactly it ! Sorry to sound (be) that numb but could you explain the intersection method ? ๐Ÿ˜•

    • Glass modelling problem

      Hi !

Well I'm not new to Sketchup but I'm still facing some trivial difficulties...
So here is my last one... I'm trying to model this set of glasses :
      _cirva01.jpg

But I don't know how to do it !
I've tried various things before posting but nothing turned out good...
1- I modeled a slice or profile of the glass and used follow me. Then I tried to draw the vertical carvings with rectangle on surface but I found it too long to be the appropriate solution.
      The result :
Rotated profile and TOols on Surface : Didn't seem to be the best workflow to me. Am I wrong ?
      Rendered view

2- Same thing but with 2 different types of profiles.
2 different profiles assembled. These two form a 1/24 of a circle. I then rotated this shape to form a circle again. But it doesn't look circular...:-(looks like assembled square Legos or something... ARGH !

      I'm hopeless... What am I missing ? ๐Ÿ˜ข

I love your watercolor renders ! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I'm not sure why I'm not thrilled by your first photo-realistic image but your watercolor technique is astounding !
Can you tell me more on your post-processes ? I'm not sure I understand Gaieus when he's mentioning traditional watercolor ?

Er... I think I also miss your DWC's reference ?
When I googled for it I found a link to a spanking club (Disciplinary Wives Club...)... I'm almost sure that's not what you meant ! ๐Ÿ˜•
Anyway, any advice/clue/hint at how you achieved such a great result will be highly appreciated !

      Hi !

Well I'm new to modelling and rendering but I found Kerkythea's instancing brush is amazing tool for what you're trying to achieve.
There's a couple of great grass patches (including Majid's grass pack you can find here :http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4960&sid=218bdacb2c1bc20047da887e866a0cea), flowers and trees you can download from KT's repository http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=42&func=select&id=17.

Also there's this great tutorial on the instancing brush here http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=42&func=fileinfo&id=68.

Oh, of course there's also the sandbox tools !

I'm all new to that but I ended up pretty satisfied with my first exterior rendering using these tools.
      Hope this helps !

      Hi,

Your model is brimey, couldn't resist trying a render... So here's my attempt of Kerkythea render using ready-made textures.
Lights a bit too close from the ceiling also... ๐Ÿ˜’

      Hi Dermot,

Have you tried just lowering your omni lights a little ? IES lights are very demanding which may explain your rendering time I think.

Maybe by just lowering your omni and removing the IES...

    • RE: Internal Kitchen Render - Twilight Easy Low+

I think there's gotta be some absolute rule on how remote should a light source be from an object but unfortunately I've relied on experience so far... Try and place them slightly further from the ceiling in order not to get this halo.

I've never used IES lights yet. I think they are physically accurate light presets from light manufacturers ๐Ÿ˜•

      Hi !

      Looking nice !
Maybe you should place a light towards your background pic. I had the same problem the first time I tried to put a cyclo behind windows...

I think your omni lights are a little too close from the ceiling also.
The fridge and oven textures don't look as nice as they could.

Entourage would definately add something to it but it looks pretty good to me so far !

I was wondering how you did the grasspave stuff. It looks great!

Hi ! I drew the pavement in Sketchup and filled the grass part with the instancing brush in Kerkythea using Majid's grass pack.
PM me if you need more details ! Glad you liked it !

Super building - i'd be too scared to stand at one end of it incase I tipped it over!!!

Loved the night shots - very atmospheric

Yea it's a really amazing building. I think it's an office facing a lake in Austria.
A good way I found to experiment on outside and inside views at the same time !

Well from the location indicated on your profile I guess you're likely to appreciate the lake atmosphere... ๐Ÿ˜„

Are those green pavers? Where did you find them, I have a project I'm working on and had to make up a tiled texture for. Yours look lie the real thing does. Good work.

      Hi Dale !
Well, first I found a ready-to-use texture I liked that was including the pavement and the grass.
Then I thought it would look more real to actually model everything. But... with the pavement extruded, my Kerkythea file grew up to 1.5 Go... ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
So... I just left the pavement flat and did the grass in Kerkythea with Majid's grass pack (Thank you !)... Which doesn't make me satisfied yet (wish it was shorter... need to work some more on Kerkythea).

Anyway... I did draw the pavement in Sketchup but left it flat !

Thanks for taking some time to comment ! ๐Ÿ˜„

it will, i've seen similar lamps that work just fine and give a nice scattered light. some serious cantilever you got there ๐Ÿ‘

Hehehe ! I shud have said the building really exists too... It's an office by Baumschlager and Eberle... I dunno how to make a trademark symbol... I hope I don't get sued for that ๐Ÿ˜•
So anyway, I hope they have done some serious calculation for that lever or my 3d will crash... ๐Ÿ˜„
I photomatched it to get the overall proportions and retextured furnished and landscaped...
