Thank-you Thom. I thought of moving the spot heights (crosshairs) but though it might make triangualtion even more tedious.

    • 2d CAD topo into a 3d

      Hi guys,

I've got a 2d cad topo plan that I'd like to have in 3d so that I can model an embankment where we are putting an elevated walkway onto/into. Unfortunately, the architects have informed me the topo is 2d only. 🀒

So, the only way roudn this I can think of is to extrude lines from the spot heights and then triangulate the levels.

Am I missing a trick here? Is there an easier way?

      Cheers.

The grass/vegetation at the front of the double door is amazing - how'd you do this if you don't mind me asking? Is this a real photo?

We used to use Humbrol. Great memories! Still available I believe, at least in the UK.

Looting and rioting taking place in Manchester and West Midlands tonight.

This is simply recreational looting on a mass scale. I feel so angry.

Great post TIG, agree with everything you've said.

      Your last sentence is perhaps the most pertinent though;

The rioters are just criminal kids of useless parents...nothing political about it at all. It has everything to do with yobs demanding respect when they've done nothing to earn it. These people are dressed in expensive designer sportswear and coordinating themselves with Blackberries. To blame it on poverty is an insult to the poor.

This is what you get when you spend the last 40 years emasculating all those in society in some kind of position to make up for the inadequacies of some parents in terms of inculcating some kind of morality and social reponsibility into their offspring. The parents are every bit as much to blame as the kids themselves. I wonder how many of those dysfunctional parents will actually do anything when their twelve-year-old finally returns in the early hours dragging a 42" plasma TV behind him? Nary a one, I'll bet.

And all this from a guy who's politically left of centre.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Not sure if the worldwise community have heard about this:

      Access Denied

      favicon

Absolutely sickening. Hoardes of youths roaming the streets of London and a few other major cities looting and thieving. Feral youths ripping apart their own communities for the chance of a widescreen TV.

These youths don't give a **** about anything or anyone.

Lifts the spirit though to see the community led clean-up teams are bigger and stronger than the rioters.

John, this is absolutely fabulous. What great textures. (Is there a problem with the texturing on the window on the right, though? Looks like it supposed to be there but my eye was instantly drawn to it.)

Without doubt my favourite render of yours.
