I have the same issue. License not accepted even though my maintenance payment was only a week ago. Email to Trimble coming up.

RE: 3D Truss Models
I for one welcome seeing your comments re the plugin development and wouldn't want you to put this behind closed doors so to speak. Was the topic originally in the general forum and so has been moved more appropriately into the plugin area? Keeo it coming.

RE: I need a new mouse
Another CadMouse user here. This mouse is quite different. Definitely large but that suits my hand size. Definitely heavy which funnily enough I have grown to really like. When I use a different mouse now, they all fell cheap and flimsy. The middle mouse button is great but I mostly use in in a web browser where the middle mouse brings up a link in a new tab. This is great. This mouse comes with a cord, not sure why they did this. The only real downside is the cost. I guess this illustrates my current motto - Cry once, be happy thereafter.

RE: Best wireless multi-button configurable mouse
Okay, that is the craziest mouse I have ever seen. Mouse meets Gyro Gearloose (showing my age here) or perhaps mouse meets Terminator.

RE: Edges, faces, etc to layers
That works like a charm. This will save me a lot of tedious work. Thank you.

Edges, faces, etc to layers
I know what I am asking for violates one of the cardinal rules of SU. I do model with all objects (edges, faces, etc) on layer 0 with groups and components on appropriately named layers.
I also work with Revit and have the need to control visibilty of the imported SU objects. I can bring the layers from SU into Revit but cannot play with visibilty because all the actual edges and faces are on layer 0.
Is there a plugin which will take all the objects (edges & faces) within a group or component and put those objects on the groups layer. This would only be used in a copy of the model which would be saved for the Revit export.
Any ideas?KrisM

RE: Dimensions: custom arrows & turn off extension lines
Ashlar was the first cad program I used. I only had a 2D version. The inferencing was the best thing and actually this was before Autocad had it. So this is at least twenty years ago and it illustrates that there are a lot of capabilities in cad programs that have been around for a LONG time. Its hard to take that your current program of choice can't do something that has been around for years. Progress seems slow.

RE: Layout Printed Line Thickness
Fonts seem to occupy their own universe. If you look at five different fonts, all at 20 pts, they will all be different heights. You will have to decide which font you want to use, determine what its actual height is relative to your required point size and adjust the point size accordingly.

RE: SketchUp to ArchiCad?
In Revit, I use a dwg export with the options set to export as autocad solids. This creates a perfect export / import to Skecthup with everything grouped appropriately. Does such an option exist in Archicad? Only downside is that the materials don't come across.

RE: SketchUp to ArchiCad?
Try saving the SU model to an earlier version, perhaps version 8. Archicad doesn't necessarily like the current version of SU.

RE: Revit to Sketchup Workflow...
I am using a RevitLT / SketchUp workflow. I've tried all manner of programs and in the end settled on RevitLT. The documentation is what sells it for me - grids, schedules, tags for windows and doors, etc. That being said, nothing rivals SkecthUp for the 3D modeling of odd stuff and all the possibilities of presentation.
I model everything I can in RevitLT and export the file as an acis solid dwg. This imports into SketchUp without any problems with all the Revit objects becoming components or groups. What doesn't happen is the importing of the textures. I do the texture application in SketchUp. This isn't as onerous as it sounds.
I use Simlab for 3D pdfs from SketchUp and find it quite useful. I can't use the Revit plugin as LT doesn't support plugins so I can't comment on that.
Not a perfect workflow but pretty good.KrisM

RE: Select Only Solids
Also tried opening the ruby in Notepad and Notepad++, copying and pasting into the Ruby console. Nothing happens. I am obviously missing something.

RE: Select Only Solids
Feeling kind of dumb here. Put the ruby in the plugin folder but cannot for the life of me find where to use it from?

RE: Select Only Solids
slbaumgartner & TIG,
Thanks for your help. A few problems.
My procedure -
Select all entities (84 entities total, 7 non solid components, 1 line, rest are solid groups and components.
Run script.slbaumgartner - I get an error message
Error: <main>:9: syntax error, unexpected keyword_end, expecting '}'
end ^
SketchUp:1:in `eval'TIG -
First script - Get 83 Components/Groups in Entity Info box, the 1 line is deselectd, the 7 non solids are still selected.
2nd script - Get 84 Components/Groups in Entity Info box, which is weird since the 1 line looks like it is deselectd, the 7 non solids are still selected.

RE: Nakashima
Well, traditional dovetails will only ever resist movement in one direction. So Mr. Nakashima should have used those crazy skewed dovetails.
-
RE: Select Only Solids
This looks like it provides information only but doesn't allow me to select a group of objects and do something to them.
-
RE: Select Only Solids
I already use the entity info box to identify the solids. What I want to do is select the whole model, filter out the solids and deal with the remainder. If I have a couple of hundred objects to go through individually, it is a bit of a task.

Select Only Solids
I need to have only solids (groups or components) in some of my models. What I need to do is select the whole model but only those objects that are solids. I have looked at various selection plugins but nothing does what I'm after. I need to find the non solid objects in the model so that they can be fixed. Any ideas out there?

"I'm a bit slow tonight, what do you mean by 'good second row'??!!"
I imagined that in your part of the world that you would get the rugby reference...basically means that I'm not 'little' but big.
Curiosity is satisfied. Just wanted to admire your hard work.
