Great script! I love the features, but I've had a problem with the knife tool. If I use it to snap to an endpoint, the resulting "cut" doesn't actually start at that endpoint. I think these images will explain what I mean.

I've had no other problems so far and I see this one tool, in particular, speeding up my work considerably, if I can get it to work properly.

Thanks again and thanks for any help!

Just a quick question, ow many polys does a subdivided chair, say, have?

Well, this chair was subdivided by hand, but I'd say it was fairly average to any chair I model in SketchUp and has 6674 faces. Some of those are tri's some are quads so it would be considerably higher if the model was triangulated.

I've been sitting back patiently waiting and have been amazed at the development of this script. It's also amazing how many posts have been made since the announcement that it would not be a free script. I do use Sketch-up professionally and if my boss decides not to buy this script I, myself will gladly support your project Whaat. I design 3D samples for a furniture company (among many other tasks), and can't wait to get a hold of this script. Our customers have become more and more demanding on attention to detail. The #1 complaint of our renders is that they don't look "cushy" enough. I believe that this script will help me create the organic curves that we need as well as reduce production time considerably. Take a look at a few renders and realize how many lines had to be drawn one at a time and accept my gracious gratitude on the development of this script.

You're gonna make me look like a 3D Superman in terms of production time and value. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to your release!(end ass-kissing πŸ˜• )

      That's really cool Krash88.

The only little remark I have with current plugin (besides saying it is awesome πŸ˜„), is that after some manipulation, it starts to become difficult to see which points to move.
It would be great if the control points would stick more to the geometry...I am not sure if my explanation is clear.

Another thing is, I noticed that the outer limits of geometry gets changed by the plugin, even though only points were selected in the middle (no points located at the boundaries of an object). I experienced this issue as well while using the 'sandbox tool' in SU.

I think every vertex in a piece of geometry holds some weight with every control point. Maybe adding an option for fall-off would help a little with both of your issues. It may be asking too much, but an option for "freezing" certain edges could help so that the weight calculations won't affect them(for your edge problem). Maybe creating a sub-group that doesn't include the edges you want to remain in place and then only deforming the rest of the geometry will solve the problem as well. I'll try that out later.

I just wanted to post something to show how this has helped to add life to my renderings. Thanks again!

Great job! The auto update is very nice. But I have one problem... If I create a flat piece of geometry similar to your wave demo, then strange things happen. After moving a control point the geometry disappears and the camera goes nuts. It sticks me in an over-head view, miles away from the control points. After a zoom extents I can tell that the geometry is still there and is selectable, but not visible. Turning on hidden geometry doesn't help and any attempt to zoom in or out puts me back over-head at a great distance from the points. It seems to work great on geometry with thickness. Any help is appreciated and thanks again for the wonderful script!

      Edit:

After looking back at your wave demo, I noticed that you have a vertical edge at one corner of the mesh to give it thickness and I assume that you have deleted the control points from the bottom also. I tried this and it works just fine. So thanks again for the script!

Ooops! I fixed it and updated the script in the original post. Kwistenbiebel this is probably the same bug you were seeing.

      Chris

It works great now! thanks for the fix!

Hi all. First of all, I work for a company that builds furniture and I do the digital samples in SU. Searching for this type of script is what brought me to these forums and it looks amazing. Our customers are constantly raising the level of detail that they want to see in my images but the limitations of SU make it time-consuming to do so. I have attached a SU6 file of a pillow that I modeled quite a while back and it's quite ugly. If you could, try your script on it and see if it helps. If I could model low poly things like this and subdivide and smooth them, it would save a tremendous amount of time.

I have also attached images of both the old pillow and the beginnings of my new one. Connecting all of the lines gives me a headache. Being able to use your script would be great!

      PS.
Is it possible to set a threshold angle with your script in order to keep certain edges, beyond a given angle, sharp?
