When I paint one wall all of the floorplan walls become the same color (sometimes including the floor) and when I paint one floor they all become the same color. I click edit group or edit component but I still can't paint one room a color and wallpaper another. What am I doing wrong? I tried exploding the floorplan, but that didn't work either.

That might explain it. I'm so totally new to this. In school we are told to do it, unfortunately not much is said about how to do it. Today I'm doing a secional sofa and learning groups and the arc tool. As usual, I'm lost. At first I thought it was because I've gone back to school at the age of 40. Now I'm certain I would be lost at any age.

This is driving me out of my mind, and to make matters far worse, I'm being graded on it for a college class. We had to make a floor plan and raise the wall to 8' 2 3/8" high. OK, sounds pretty easy. I spent 5 days measuring, adjusting, measuring and adjusting, because I would get it perfect but it wouldn't stay that way. Before I knew it the walls would be 8 ft or 4 ft or God knows what. I spent 2 days trying to fix the 8" thick walls. I would get them perfect with the offset tool, but before I knew it they would be all off. Also when I type in a measurement in the lower right hand corner and hit enter the floor plan shoots out into cyberspace, and I have to try to find it and kind of reel it back in. When I do have it back the size is all off. Walls that were 17ft would be 12ft or 9 ft or something simular. I have just had it. I have been working with 3D design software for over 10 years and I've never run into problems like this. My instructor thinks I'm nuts. I'm starting to think so too!

Help! I'm an interior design student and we are working with Sketchup. I'm making a sofa and I'm suppose to use the taper tool to taper in the back of the sofa. I can't for the life of me find the taper tool. The tutorial shows one, but there's nothing like that on my toolbar. I went to the help page and the taper tool isn't listed in the index and I tried the search and came up with nothing as well. So where is the silly thing??? I have Sketchup Pro (trial) and regular free Sketchup.
