    • RE: [Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24

Just added this to my mac and works like a charm!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hmm... I've got a ton of plugins, so showing the folder structure wouldn't really help but...
      I installed it like so:
      /library/application suppor/google sketchup 7/sketchup/plugins/

      • Libfredo6_Dir_34 (folder)
      • Libredo6.rb
      • ROUNDCORNER_Dir_21 (folder)
      • ZLoader__RoundCorner.rb

(Note: I had to delete an older Libfredo6_Dir. I also had to delete and older ROUNDCORNER_Dir, but it worked fine with this older directory in place)

      What a great thing... awesome.

Is that the tutorial using the train blueprint?

If so, it is very informative.

      Yup. That's the one! Thanks!

I wrote a tutorial on that site for importing the schematic drawings into sketchup. It's pretty basic, but still, it's there...

    • RE: Useful MAC Apps and Hardware [Ongoing Updates]

I wouldn't know what to do without Quicksilver! It's a keyboard-shortcut launching app thingy. But it makes launching apps, opening folders and all sorts of stuff just a few key strokes away!

I'd second the vote for Skitch. Awesome screen cap with the easy web-upload for fast sharing.

For those interested in Open Office, I use the Neo-Office flavor. It's a mac-native port of Open Office and runs nicer and interfaces seamlessly with OSX.

Consider this a Sketchup Forensics Lesson 101.

It was the first real time I'd tried to deconstruct someone else's model.

It was tricky in the water example because the texture was applied to both sides...

If I understand right, it's because the +/- values are associated with the front/back face of the sketchup geometry. By having them arranged in a specific pattern, it creates an unsolvable problem for the SSB.

But I certainly don't understand all the details yet. ๐Ÿ‘Š

Wow! I guess there s a lesson here to always read the fine print on the free plugins.

I totally missed the "expires on" line there.

    • RE: What's your beginners tip?

This tip is hard to explain.
When rotating, click+drag along the desired rotation axis.

This lets you select a funky rotation axis with ease, and more importantly, repeatability.

Here's a quick vid, I'm having trouble embedding it. Sorry!

    • Just another introduction...

      Hey skethucation!
I've been coming to this site more and more for answers, plugins and general sketchupness. It's great. About time I started participating!

Thanks for all the great resources here. Awesome. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I'm not a beginner, been using sketchup for years, but I still think I use it at a pretty basic level. I'm really (really really really) way too excited about dynamic components and have been trying to build some with marginal success.

I generally use a mac, so I'm really bummed I can't try SketchyPhysics yet. (If it's available for a mac, now, I better check it out!)

Here's some of my sketchup examples:

For about a week I did some 15 minute sketchup exercises, just to work on quickly executing an idea. Here's some of those:

And here's a couple examples from work.
