RE: Image protect when emailing?
You could print the images as a PDF file, then use something like Lock Lizard to protect them.
Home
Locklizard provides PDF DRM software for total document security & copy protection. Protect files & secure PDFs with digital rights management encryption.
Locklizard (www.locklizard.com)
Lock Lizard is supposed to provide protection against printing and copying too.

RE: SU with "Drafting" software.
I use SU with MicroGDS. I've used MicroGDS for many years and have never seen anything better for a fully integrated professional CAD application. For presentation, nothing can beat MicroGDS and the multi-user capability is second to none. It has a fully integrated 3D modelling and rendering capability too, supports SU file import and, like Sketchup, the Piranesi EPIX file format.
MicroGDS even has many SU-like modelling tools, such as Face Move (which is very similar to Push/Pull.)
Check out http://www.informatix.co.uk/MicroGDS.
MicroGDS is also much cheaper than some of the more well known competition.

RE: Watchtower (Final render)
Should the locking bar on the door be on the inside of the door?
If not, the enemy get to lock the watchmen in, right?

Just staggering. Beautiful work.

Well, this is a remodelled Death Star interior, right? Gok Wan let loose in partnership with Anne Marie!
You must have Tatooine in the background!

Oh I should also say that when buying train tickets in the UK, even at short notice for day trips, always always always buy a return ticket if you are travelling both ways.
Absolutely NOT for longer journeys such as London/Edinburgh though! IF you can book your tickets in advance it is almost always cheaper to buy two singles now. This is because the best discounts are applied on advance purchase tickets for single journeys. On very long journeys it can even be cheaper to buy separate tickets for different sections of the journey as at certain times premium fares apply to journeys that start or finish at London stations.
In any case, it will always be cheaper to book in advance - a minimum of 7 days, though the further the better. I think that advance purchase tickets are released about 2 months before the journey.
http://www.nationalexpress.com/trainslanding.aspx is the main line service provider from London to Edinburgh.

With respect to the underground from Heathrow, is it really all that easy with luggage?
Sue - it depends on the time of day.
I would NOT recommend using the underground in rush hour with luggage!
It is a pretty shabby journey too - 45 mins to central London on uncomfortable, often overcrowded, and sometimes dirty trains.
Heathrow Express would be better - 15 mins journey on comfortable, clean, modern trains, but expensive. Notoriously the most expensive per mile cost of any mode of public transport in the world!

RE: Social networking sites: waste of time / fun / useful?

Hmm, I missed this post, but I'd like to bring it back up.
What about social networking for our professional personna? I don't think a business owner can deny the effect that social marketing can have. I am hearing more and more about people getting jobs from Twitter or getting exposure on places like reddit or digg.
Has anyone else out there shared any of these experiences and would you even know how to launch a social marketing campaign to gain exposure and create new business?
There are lots of sites that do what you suggest - certainly here in the UK. I've signed up with a few recently and have had enquiries and one real job so far.
For pure networking, you should give LINKEDIN a go. Groups are available for lots of professions - there are even Sketchup groups.

RE: United Kingdom: Basket Case
There is a novel, and highly appropriate way to register a protest. An architectural design competition that is open to anyone.

RE: United Kingdom: Basket Case
200 down, 450 to go ... I would not place a bet on how many of the remaining 450 are going to prove to be innocent.
Anyway - I'm going to vote, but I will not be voting for anyone in the main parties. seems to me there are only 4 ways to register a protest:
- Don't vote, but this is futile and the politicians choose to see this as apathy rather than a protest.
- Spoil the voting paper, but this is futile as politicians choose to see this as vandalism.
- Vote for a minority candidate. The only vote that counts if you see what I mean.
- Stand for election yourself. Oh, come on! Who has time for that!

RE: Modeling from plans
Another name for your list. Quite a small army assembling - between us we could take on the world!
These examples were all developed in Sketchup based on DWG drawings.

RE: A Fun Little Game, Continued...
Granted, but you have to relocate for work and have to sell the house at a knock-down price.
I wish the Australian Government would let the HM Bark Endeavour replica resume sailing around the world and return to England for a while.

Good day everybody
Here's a link with some nice seamless textures.

LuisImages are hosted on depositfiles.com - I've had little luck downloading - mostly I get directed to a PartyPoker web site when I click the download button and the download does not work.

Exporting Textures to Revit
The Revit SKP importer does not bring in Sketchup textures.
Does anyone know of a way to get them across to Revit?

I'd vote against this.
Google doesn't seem to want to put much resources into developing SU. I really don't see how wasting the present resources on converting to linux will help.
I'd have to agree with you. Diverting resources on to a Linux port is not really a great idea. It would only be acceptable if the Linux port was achieved entirely using additional resources.
