I will explain my problem with scaling a Hatch in this post.

My objective is to draw a 2D circle, hatch the circle and then change the scale of the hatch.

      1. Choose 2D Circle tool from 2D tool bar and draw circle.
        OK
2.Choose Hatch PATT tool from 2D toolbar.
        OK See Example 1
3.Choose Hatch PATT_AB-B816. Click inside circle.
        OK See Example 2
4.Attempt to change scale of bricks. Select Scale from standard toolbar.
Not OK. Any movement of grips scales the entire object. See Example 3.

    • RE: 2D Hatch Tool

Not having any results trying to change "paint" I can edit rgb to get new color but always paints black. I have a padlock on the black color but have been unable to find a way to remove it.
I am guessing this could be one of my problems?

No luck either with changing pattern sizes. If I try to rescale, the complete image changes sizes.

      Thanks

    • 2D Hatch Tool

When selecting the hatch pattern ie. Patt_Solid is there a way to change to a "color" other than black"

Is there a way to change the scale of the available hatch patterns?

      Thank You

      TIG
Thanks a lot for your help and the clear write up. I have dual monitors so I just put your write up on one of the screens and worked step by step. I now have a Sketchup screen with the 2d icons on the screen. Whoopee. However, when I click on the Plugin icon it shows that I have just 3 plugins.
"Tube Along a Path" which I believe you suggested to me a while back.
      "Install"
      and
"Cost" (Somehow I must have got this accidentally while I was floundering about.) Might be useful tho.
BUT no 2D Tools is shown here. Should I worry about this. I REALLY want this plugin!

      Thanks again for your patience.

      TIG Thanks for the reply.
I found the simple installer package you suggested. It was easy to follow each step as he shows. Unfortunately I cannot get past the step he shows as "Access" Now if I click on "Plugins" I find I now have an option for "Install" just as he shows with the options to select the type of file as he shows.

This is as far as I can get. If I select "2Dtools to open as a zip all I get is a few simple files obviously related to the desired file(no main files). But I am unable to open them anyway. Can you suggest how to proceed?
      Thank You Jim

I have followed Jim's SketchUp [Plugins] Blog: How To Download and Install 2d Tools and all appeared to go well. However now I cannot find the new toolbar. Can you suggest any thing to help me locate it.
I have the latest version of Sketchup8 and Windows 7
      Thank You

    • Ruby Plugin 2D Tools

I am trying to get the Ruby Plugin "2D Tools" into my Sketchup. I have downloaded it. It downloads as a zip file but I have been unable to unzip it. Can anyone help me to do this? Windows 7 is supposed to do this (as I understand), with just a right click. This does not work for me.
I am using windows 7 and Sketchup 8. In the ruby library depot, under "How to install", They state "Special, see documentation". I assume one must unzip the file to see these instructions?

Can anyone see what I need to do.
      Thanks

    • RE: Layers SketchUp 8

GREAT! You were correct, I do use a second monitor sometimes and that's where it was! You know , I tried to learn SketchUp when it was first released but I would encounter areas I could not understand and finally gave up. Now,the ability to ask a question and get help is super. Thanks to you both.

      PS
The tutorials available now are also a wonderful learning tool.

Thanks for your kind help. I have the Gladwin program running and am getting familiar with it.

I have studied the tutorials suggested and think I now understand this feature but somehow I am missing being able to get the layer management screen up. Going to Windows, Layers and clicking on Layers nothing happens. To the right of this selection is a short dash All seems clear to me but somehow I am missing something!
      Thanks for sticking with me.

    • Layers SketchUp 8

I have been looking at the various instructions on using layers in SketchUp 8 but I cannot get my screen to look like the ones shown in all the examples. All I can get shown is a simple window that shows "layout 0". Also looking at other models I can get a list of the components but not the screen allowing me to manipulate them.

Can You see what I am doing wrong?
      Thank You
