In a model with various scenes, I often create a scene which has no camera location, but would toggle off shadows and non-essential layers like trees and cars. This allows me to pan around the model efficiently. Probably everyone does something similar.
When I want to return to one of the scenes that I want to view/export, it seems that the first thing SU does is to turn on shadows and layers as required by the scene, and then panning to the defined camera location. This means that SU has to recalculate the shadows for everything as it pans and inevitably slows down the transition.
This isn't a bug, but, I think, something inherent in the way SU was created. If, alternatively SU went first to the camera location and then, as a final step, turned on the required layers and shadow settings, it seems to me that the transition would happen more quickly.
I'd like to hear your comments.

Does anyone know anything about this software 'Envisioneer'? It looks like a Chief Architect alternative.

Well, looking at the Easyjet map you posted Mike, the obvious central location for Europe is JERSEY!!
I'm booked to fly Easyjet from Bristol to Geneva in July. Could be an intersting trip!

Thanks for all your help. Mirjman and Thomthom both had the fix. Changing transparency to nicer works a treat. But I agree with Thomthom that it could slow down the model.

These are shots of part of a planning study model built on a base which is an aerial photo. There are two instances of the same tree beside each other, see view 2. In the first view the tree sitting on the aerial photo base is virtually impossible to see. In the third view with shading only, the display of the same tree is totally different.
Is this normal or is there a way to work around it?
Tom - this is no criticism of your trees - I use them all the time. I think it is a display problem
Just saw this. Using English. Will try to recreate Bugsplat over my evening drink!

I tried a repair - no difference. I uninstalled SU and downloaded Pro6 again from Google SU and installed from scratch. No difference. See my thread.
I think this needs a response from Google immediately.

I posted about very similar 3D export difficulties:
http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6180
No solution has been given yet. There is another recent post about PDF problems.
It would seem these are indicative of some deeper problem. I did flag my thread directly to the Brad, but havn't received a response as yet.

(too many 'problems' - sorry)
Me too, sent a PM to Gaieus. Din't see this thread. I got pop-ups and the sites seemed to be AV and Spam blockers/fixers. A sense of irony I guess
Thanks for your diligence Gaieus. Don't you do anything else?!

I have Pro6 (PC) installed on my desktop and this laptop. I have found that I cannot export 3D from this laptop. I did a repair and then subsequently a complete uninstall and reinstalled by downloading Pro6 again from the website. The same problem exists.
If I click on export 3d the window pops up but in the ‘file’ box there is no file type showing and no file types in the drop down box. If I click export I get a bugsplat.
Under the help menu and checking various exporters in plugins, it would appear that they are all there.
I can export 2D to Acad without any problems.
Anybody got any suggestions?

Signing off, but drooling for more....
Anyone who gets Tinanne to say that on a public forum has my deepest respect!
And the modelling ain't bad either.

I have an Acer laptop, though I don't think the manufacturer makes any difference. When I went to UK with it I bought a power lead there at a computer shop. Not surprising because UK is 240v, with weird plugs that look like they could jump start a Titan rocket. Anyway, best thing is to buy a laptop power lead in Italy. That will plug into the blackbox that is then connected to the laptop. Don't assume that just because the prongs on the plug fit in the socket the power is compatible.

You must have been on the red carpet at TIFF last week!
(Toronto International Film Festival - best in the world, they say)

Thanks Tom, and since you're so darn good at this, can you make 'em suck up CO2 as well?
