quoting Claudio (Clipi) from the KT forums....

Well have you know Kerkythea has a greek touch since it was born there.
So I suggested to use the "ECHO" name to represent one of the preponderant features of the forthcoming release, which is Instancing brush.In greek mythology ECHO was a nymph punished by Hera for being so talkative, she was cursed to repeat over and over the last words said by other pearsons. That is the escence of Instancing, repeating the same object over and over..
pretty wild eh?? LOL!
and it should be avaible towards the end of this month,.... next week is a reasonable guesss! -

RE: KT 2008 Echo Edition Teaser!!
chris..
Hi, so nice to see u around...
i rem that physical sky thread over at the KT forum.. sad to say the physical sky still doesnt have those tweaks that u suggested...however the camera in KT does have a more 'physical' meaning to it now.. (only vignetting is missing rite now.. and i am goin to nag Giannis about it! LOL)
Biased render engine does seem much faster than before.. however the problem of rendering large scenes (like paul russams church interior) using biased render algorithms is still not recommended.. but then again its hardly everyday that u get to render scenes like those! -
RE: Interior render
thats a nice scene u got!
wait for a few more days and u could render this in the new version of KT.. -
KT 2008 Echo Edition Teaser!!

RE: Comparing Max & KT
PM = photon mapping,
PPT = path tracing (progressive)
BPT = bidirectional path tracing
MLT = Metropolis Light Trasferthese are the different render presets available in KT! the best of both biased and unbiased worlds!

RE: Greetings from a real newbie...
Hola and bienvenidos!
i see ur a piranesi user! i love lookin at piranesi works.. i am however toooo lazy to use it and hence i stick with renderers that do all the work for me! LOL! -
RE: Comparing Max & KT
majid,
i suppose u have used scanline render option for 3dMax?? KT uses a different apprach from the 3dmax scanline render.. it takes into account GI (global illumination) if u were to use Vray or Mray for max the results would be similar to what see in KT.i dont know much bout importing to max but for KT i suggest using Su2KT (which i am sure u are using! )
the problem u mentioned about KT not showing large objects or very small objects is an issue of the Open GL. if u are using su2kt and render from the cam positions it should be fine.. only thing is the viewer inside KT would be all messed up..
another small thing.. if rendering HUUUUGE scenes i would suggest using Unbiased render methods such as PPT or BPT or MLT. thats becoz PM+FG has certain limitations for rendering huuuge meshes..
regards,
