    • Paste Image directly into SU from the clipboard ?

I often use the Windows Snipping Tool and other screen capture utilities which place captures to the clipboard. Currently I have to: 1) save the clipboard as an image file or 2) paste into a graphic application and save it as an image file, and then import file into SU.

Are there any scripts the can Paste images captured in the clipboard contents directly into SU?

    • Draw a Guideline Circle or Convert edges to guide lines?

I thought the was a plugin to convert edges to a guideline but couldn't find it.

Or possibly using a circle tool to create a circular guideline?

What about exporting the animation to movie formats? Would that be left to the native SU export options or would there be other means for MP#, Avi, etc., formats?

    • SU BootCamp and BaseCamp 2016; Someone to Share a Room

I'll be attending Bootcamp and Basecamp and looking for someone to share a room, 2 queen sized beds, for June 10 - 16.

Looks like the per day room cost, including tax, will be around $120 at the Steamboat Grand.

Please contact me as soon as possible

      Thanks, John

      VOLUME Calculator.

I am getting a very large difference in calculated volumes between what SU displays in the Entity Info and what the volume calculator comes up with. I suspect it is due to a small sized object with many very small facets.

Can I send you the model to look it over?

      Model created in SU2015, 64-bit. Windows 7.

      Thanks for commenting, Dave.

If the surface is small and you need to drag or create a control point way off of the surface (in order to shape the curve) then drawing a planar curve is tough. Also, if there a lot of other closeby geometry it becomes even more of a challenge. There are work-arounds but they can be time consuming.

    • RE: [Plugin] BezierSpline - v2.2a - 22 Apr 21

      Hi Fredo:

I was wondering if there could be a "lock to plane" option which would only allow Beziers to be drawn to planes of the current Axes?

The way I would use this option is to 1st temporarily set the origin and axes to a surface that I want the bezier control points to "stick" to and then 2nd draw bezier curves and when finished the curves would "cut" the surface so that unwanted areas of the surface could be removed.

Currently when drawing a bezier, if not very careful, the curve may not be coplanar.

Request: For lofting along a path, could its prompt read,
"1st Select Lofting Path, thenEdges to be Lofted".
It would help new users or those who haven't used the plugin in a while.

I am planning on attending both the boot & base camps. Probably arrive in Denver on Friday the 10th.

Unless SU will have a Shuttle reserved, I will rent a car.
When it gets closer to June and people have better idea of their schedules, perhaps some of us could arrange to share a rental car sometime on 10th and arrive in Steamboat late in the afternoon or early evening.

    • RE: Uniform Scale relative to a specific point or vertex?

Well I suppose redrawing the circle rather than scaling could be an option IF there was a circle tool similar Didier Bur's Arcs & Circle plugin which has a 2-point circle tool; however, it would need to be able take input as to the desired diameter.

    • Uniform Scale relative to a specific point or vertex?

I have some circles whose circumferences are aligned at one particular point.

I want to re-scale some some of the circles uniformly and still maintain their existing alignment.

Is their a plugin that can do this or could one be created to uniformly scale any geometry relative to specific place on the geometry NOT the center of the geometry.

    • RE: [Plugin] Dimension management tools

My first impulse is to manage the dimensions just via layer manager that way if you export the component or cut and paste, the layer goes with it.

Placing the dimension outside of their context could result in all sort of unwanted issues.

    • RE: [Plugin] Dimension management tools

Sometimes, workflow could involve modeling different parts as separate models then inserting them or copying-and-pasting them into a new file. In this situation if the separate models have dimensions then the dimensions would become nested. I would think this not to be an uncommon practice, particularly when more than one person is contributing geometry to a project.

I think a checkbox option to act on all nested dimensions inside a component or group or, if not in a nested element, the entire model would be a good thing.
