Hello Axeonalias, your completely correct I never noticed. I have no dimensions to work from only old pics and you sometimes get so ingrossed you can't see the trees for the woods. πŸ‘Š

Sometimes you can get real close by taking an entry door, which in a lot of cases is a standard of 36" x 80" and using that to scale close. Same with standard window sizes. It's a little harder on windows on those older buildings, but the door standard seems to be more consistent.

It helped me a ton when modeling Carnegie Library buildings.

How about building a model on the ipad first.
      [attachment=0:1eto9owa]<!-- ia0 -->ipadsu.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1eto9owa]
I am building this PA-28 161 on an ipad using SplashTop Remote. It seems a bit weird that it works so well...I have had no problems building so far. I miss the center mouse button but the "O" shortcut works fine. What a laugh!...an Apple front-end over windows 7 running Mac software...seems the best of all worlds at the moment.

I have been slowly moving my office on to the ipad. The modeling was the last part of the puzzle but as it stands the desktop is sitting in a corner with no visitors. As long as it is on I am in business. The Piper is for a customer who is going to repaint in the spring. We will paint up this model a few times to pick the best design.

I have been involved in testing the ChromeBook and Chrome OS, and have heard remote desktop apps are on their way. I'm hopeful in being able to do the same thing you are doing on the iPad, but in a Chrome OS environment. I'll post up more, once they have something going.

      That says it!!

Yep. It's been quite interesting how this same topic has come up in testing the Chrome OS and Chromebooks that Google has handed out for testing.

Big questions about feedback and Google tracking usage. It's been kind of sad how fearful people are about all of that.

Financial information, I understand. The rest is paranoia.

I don't know, but I have very high hopes πŸ˜„

Just got my chrome os notebook yesterday, and am test driving it now. I don't see being able to model with it, but it sure is cool for communicating, and the os has great potential. No apps for Google Earth or SketchUp for Chrome os that I have see yet, but if I do, and I have certainly started asking questions along those lines, I'll post it here if anything comes up.

    • RE: Will forums soon become obsolete?

I believe a better use of time is getting involved in the help forums. It's truly amazing how much you can learn from reading issues that people have with utilizing some of the internet tools that provide help forums, and seeing how those issues are addressed by more experienced users.

I would encourage anyone that has the time to be on Facebook to use that time to maybe contribute some of their expertise in helping others that don't have as much experience.

Between SketchUp, Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Places, and a number of many different help forums, there is plenty to do, and many that could use your help.

      Cross Alantic shout to Jack!!!

How long has it been since you created the collection, and uploaded models to it?

      This morning .....

I can't think of anything else that would cause the KML file not to produce. Giving it a day or so to migrate in would be my only suggestion.

As ever Gai, thank-you, I will have a think and investigate my options.

      Hey Lee,

If your models are in a collection, it will create it's own KML file called Placemarks. Click on View in Google Earth off the collection and save the file to your desktop. Double clicking on that file will open it up in Google Earth.

Once it does, you can right click on it in Google Earth and save it as a KMZ file with what ever name you want.

Then you can import that KMZ file into My Maps, and the end result is something like this.

If you don't have either of these other plugins, could you temporarily rename your "Plugins" folder to something else like "Plugins1", then create a new "Plugins" folder, place only InstantRoof in that folder, and restart SketchUp. If the script works then we'll know it's a conflict with some other plugin.

      Chuck

As I recall it, there is a set of plugins that mustbe in the plugins folder: I don't believe you can, in this case, have only InstantRoof by itself.
Sorry that I don't recall the required minimum set.

I actually did what Chuck is instructing to do to find out the conflict with LightUp. So you can have only one plugin in the plugins folder and have SketchUp work.
