    • Projected objects pt2

      Hi folks

Doing this research for work is doing my head in.

I am trying to apply a livery to a car. I have the car imported from the warehouse and would like to create an outline from the sides and front, enough so I have the car outline, doors, windows and wheel rims etc. Basically, I want a 2D representation of each side projected onto a rectangle so I can do the livery design. The design is basic, so I do not need a graphics editor for it.

I tried draping the car onto the rectangle but it was not for having it. Any ideas?

    • Adding editable polygons to a shape

      Hi folks

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way of breaking up a shape into smaller polygons that can be edited?

What I've got is an outline of half a t-shirt (the front half) and I would like to divide it into squares so I can push/pull the lines out the outline to give it more of a 3d effect which I can then later smooth. Apart from manually drawing a load of lines, how can this be done?

      Cheers

      Jamie

      Hi

Apologies if this ain't the right section for this first of all. I' sure I'll be corrected.

I have a generic flat shape that I want to bend in 2 directions (bend tool does not work for this).

Is there a way of doing this other than extruding the flat object onto a 3d curved surface and intersecting faces? I would quite like to keep the thickness of the original shape.

    • Curved semi circular ramp down help

Hey guys. New to the forum and a casual user of sketchup (ever since uni). I think this is meant to be in the Resources section of the forum but it was locked so here seemed like the next best place.

I am designing an airport in sketchup and part of it is the increasingly complicated baggage handling system. Anything that is flat or straight ramped I can handle fine using the extrude tool but it all goes haywire when I come to do a curved ramp. I thought I would be able to link the two sections using an arc that is sloping rather than flat then extruding the cross section of the conveyor belt along it but when it gets down the bottom of the arc where it would straighten out, it is at an angle of roughly 30 degrees which is obviously not going to meet the flat belt, plus there may be some lost luggage in the airport, which is not acceptable ๐Ÿ˜› I tried rotating the face but that failed horribly.

Any help you have on this issue would be very much appreciated as it's holding me back getting on with the rest of the design.

      Cheers

      Jamie

The issue is at point 2. I know how to fix 1
