I've been working on a model for work and I have recently been tested by an increasingly frustrating issue.
Background :Its a single story building, mostly bare interior, surely not that complex...
Problem: If I go to click on a surface (window pane for example) it will ignore that surface and choose the one behind it (the face of the back of building). It happens with 90% of the surfaces, both transparent and not.
This drives me insane, since the push/pull will grab the floor inside the building instead of making a square column wider. It will paint the floor with a material instead of changing that of my facade.
Now it gets interesting.
The problem goes away if I copy the entire file (copy/paste) and put it in a new file. However, it always returns eventually.
It does not seem that the files are corrupted or anything of the sort, and I'm fairly sure that when I copy them over to my Macbook the problem goes away.
I am running windows XP on a 6 month old Dell. (Now that I think about it, this problem didn't exist until I switched from Vista to XP last week)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
James
