RE: Concept car modeling
Thanks a lot Liam and Matt..
Seems that both of you may have different approach/option when modeling a car. And I believe the available option is not that many. (just my 2 cents opinion).
Remember a saying...A men's strength is measured by his patience. You think?

RE: Concept car modeling
Great model there bro..
One general question that have been bugging me since I saw the M3 from the grand master elisei...
How does the car designer actually model their car in 3D?
Do they use blueprints? or they just start from scratch? How they design those curves and bulges on bumpers, hood, etc really stun me. There must be a specific dimension from a point to another so I am more biased to think that the designer model a car from scratch. Do they only need an infinite amount of patience? or there is actually an easy way to do that.

RE: Forums' Future ?
Did all the author here patent their plugins?
Or it cannot be patent at all... -

Hi Matt..
Great bicycle there..
As a fan of product design, I would like to know how you make those rims.
Are you using "pipe along path"? -
RE: Forums' Future ?
So...Whats next? Trimble SketchUp "back to square" 1? or it will continue with 9? any news about the latest version guys?
As a new + unexperienced + not so often SU user, it is hard for me to understand the essence of this discussion but it "smells" serious
I think I'll just ride the wave...all the best to SU and SCF -

RE: Bullion
Thank Roger and Gilles...
I will check those things out soon.
Both looks very interesting but the tools from Thomtom reminds me of Artcam.
It turns a 2D Image to a 3D model. I think I've seen the demo in Youtube. -

actually i have downloaded so many plugins after a few days exploring sketchup.
i think i need to do lot more exercise before playing with all the plugins.
its a loooooong way...In fact I have a whole dir full of pluggins that looked useful, but I never loaded into SU. They are there if in fact I have a need for them, and most importantly, if I remember it is already there.
I also have a bunch of plugins loaded into SU that I have either never used, or used once or twice, again, if I remembered they are there.
But there are a few I use as much as the draw, or move tools, mainly Curviloft, Joint-PP, Pipe-along-path, and a few others I can't remember using; if the tool is indeed a plugin not an SU native tool.
The moral here is only load into SU the plugins that will help you effectively do a task common to what you normally draw. And have the memory to know they are there when you need them.
Thanks for the tips jgb...
