@gullfo said: if you do this often, maybe create a generic set of materials with the names and colors desired (i do this for lumber, metal etc frame materials as well as "sheet" so they can be used in cutlist for example). one caveat is the color of the material cannot be the same as another otherwise they collide - e.g. taking Color007 and renaming it "Charcoal" and saving it as such, then loading the model, you'll see Color007 overriding the renamed one. so you need to tweak the color slightly. hopefully in a future version of SU they'll fix this behavior so the name of the material guides it's inclusion. In my case there are just so many variations of materials and textures that a generic set wouldn't be feasible. It's a good idea though. Thanks.

Irrespective of your day-to-day default-browser, SketchUp always uses the OS's defacto browser when making many of its dialogs [that is IE for PC and Safari for MAC]. Setting that browser's permissions oddly will affect all kinds dialogs - from the 3dWH/EW to plugins using web-dialogs as their GUIs... So do not be overly restrictive in its 'options'. For example Javascript must be properly enabled in the options to allow most dialogs to work correctly. If you experience further issues then you could also look at clearing the IE/Safari cache, and reopening the effected dialog - because old versions of 'html' code etc can get recycled by that browser, instead of the using the latest pages etc...
