Words can't express how awesome it is, maybe I'm over reacting but I haven't seen anything like that before, It's beautiful, I have checked the link you send me and it's everything there but it's seems that I need knowledge in coding and programming I will study it anyway

Hi everybody, I'm trying to create something like this

Follow the SketchUpdate blog for SketchUp news, modeling tips and tricks, user stories and more.

      (sketchupdate.blogspot.com)

Basically it's a normal guided tour but the main difference is that it has a head/title plus an option to continue playing the tour once you finished viewing the model and description, I've been looking around trying to do the same but I haven't figured out how to do it, maybe you can point me to the right direction (or link) I have done other tours but this option that once you get to the place mark the tour stops + it says to continue tour click play I'm SO looking forward to this.

      http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/3396/helprc.jpg

      a minor update:

Common sense tells me: I downloaded de kml so all the info showed on the tour should be ON the kml file so I explored the folders and at the end there's one folder named "tags" with a deactivated option to show folders, so I managed to view the files inside of it, however they don't show too much options to change except for the window title wich intrigues me "screen overlay" any suggestions?

    • RE: Importing large textures problem

Gaeius, thomthom and OTB you are truly internet heroes I can't express the enormous amount of gratitude that I feel right now to you guys and at the same time I feel like a complete IDIOT I never thought that THIS ->>> In your Sketchup/Preferences/openGL dialogue, make sure you have maximum texture size checked. <<<-- was the solution, never thought/checked there. And for the terrain I solved it like you said Gaeius but I thought that I was doing it in the wrong way, I sliced it up because the terrain actually it's 3339x9378 but I've already resized the texture and quality to be optimal for GE.

      http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/641ab265bb.jpg

As you can see It's a large terrain and it's full of warehouses, the one at the end was giving me problems because of the size texture but now it's solved.

Guys once again thank you very much for your advices, I'll be aware of the downsampling and the tip for the kmz uploading.

I love this forum So much, you guys rock.

    • Importing large textures problem

Hello guys, well I'm currently working on a project wich is a large terrain actually it's an Industry Park which I'm going to upload to google earth since it's a pay-work I need to solve this in the correct way, so I'am asking for superior knowledge (Gaeius HELP ME!!) anyway I made this large texture in photoshop It looks fine in the preview (windows viewer) but when I import it to sketchup it becomes blurry and fuzzy, I've tried all kind of extensions (jpg, bmp), including the heavy ones (png and tiff) also I've resized the original into smaller sizes and nothing seems to happen. what am I doing wrong? maybe something directly from photoshop? help guys 😞

    • Tag 3d Models in GE

Hi everybody I have a problem, and I really hope you guys can help me πŸ˜• in a few days I will have a meeting with the state council of hotels (I live in Mexico specifically in Villahermosa Tabasco) the main purpouse of the meeting is to invite all kind of hotels and resorts to appear in the 3D layer of GE, I have uploaded a few models, that at this moment are included in 3D layer my intention is to model their buildings, however I want to add a plus to my work and deliver not only a 3D model but also an informative tag/ballon about the resort or the specified building, I noticed that some Hotels around the world have these tags wich I don't know how to activate like the sample below. I did some research and discovered the Spreadsheet Mapper tool wich allows you to create ballons with info but soon I discovered that those ballons doesn't display in GE permanently only in your PC in a KML file.(or maybe I'm missing something :S)

      http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8759/s1medium.jpg

My question and concern is how do I make permanent tags like the picture above with the icons displayed like restaurant and hotel, do I have to pay for it?. Is there any tutorial on how to make those tags? I want them permanently no in a KML file embeded on a website.

Please help. Thank you very much in advance.

P.S. Excuse my bad english 😞

    • Sketchup + Flash ? possible through Swift3D

Hello everybody I have a huge question to ask you guys.

Today came a client to my office asking if I was abble to model a building of 6 levels for a project that he is working on, this client is developing a system to control several aspects of this building (temperature, Audio, Lightning, etc..) The system wich it's going to handle of these aspects is a touch-screen interface where he wants to control by rotating, zooming and clicking on the 3D model. At first instance I was like ..what? is it possible? and he said it was by exporting the model into *.obj wich is recognized by flash.. Now my job it's only to deliver the model but I'm a lot curious about that. I googled it before asking here and all I've found is that is possible but only for exporting into swift3D a flash based software (correct me if I'm wrong)

What can you guys tell me about this.

      Is it possible?

If it is can someone deliver a link to some examples?

In advance thanks a lot for your comments.

      Arq. Gomez Romero

EDIT: Ok, it looks like it is possible to get what my client wants to develop, after digging around google this is the closest thing that match what I'm looking for.

      http://www.dts.edu/students/

It's Sketchup + Swift3D however I still have a lot of doubts, like the number of polygons/faces affect the smoothness of the animation? Is it possible to add shadows? How much time does it take to render a flyby walkthrough using Swift3D?
Come on people help me out or at least point me to the right direction maybe another forum (don't missjudge me).

Hello everyone here I left a little contribution to the site.

It's a set of PVC Sanitary piping. I know that there are other collections of PVC piping on the warehouse but I decided to make my own ones. Besides the connections and fittings of the others don't look like the ones we have in mexico so I hope you guys found it useful as I do

      Griffith,
I am currently working on a water treatment plant project, everything in it, pumps chemical storage feeders, controls, etc. I spent several days searching for the fittings and valves. I ended up buying a cad library from cadtoolsonline. It was about $200, worth every cent. You will need to model the bolts. I just made several different rings of bolts for different size fittings. You can download the demo and try it out. Demo has up to about 6", full version up to 48". I checked to make sure that they just weren't scaled up from one size to another, doesn't appear to be the case. I'll try to post some screen shots of the fittings and valves soon. PM me if you have questions.

My Hero ..this will save me a lot of time specially for the non scaled up pieces thanks for the link I will consult this with my wallet haha

Sorry for not specify what I was exactly looking for

I know that it's not easy to find valves like this but the internet it's so big that I wondered if someone already modeled one of those or have a link could borrow it me
