      Just an idea for the contest: I play a bit of Eve, so "Typhon" is awfully close to "Typhoon" a ship in an enemy faction. You might not want to actually name the ship, allowing CCP to do that as they have naming schemes.

      I was thinking of submitting with an Angel faction ship (seen by unknown pilots and only recently confirmed as a background story.) But I am no where even close to as good, my ideas might be good, but can't get them to form very well. Only recently picked up plug-ins.

      I wish you the best, though I will probably be shooting at yours rather than flying it. πŸ‘Ώ Though it looks like it could certainly put a dent in anything it comes across. 😲

      So I read the posts and then thought nothing of trying a 2048x2048 heightmap produced by L3DT (terrain generating program.) 😲 Maybe I should try a bit smaller at first. Then I won't just freeze sketchup and make my patience run out... πŸ˜•

      I will try with a smaller (much smaller) one first and post the results.

      Not very good at finishing stuff. This is another fighter, with big guns and a really shiny blue paint job. About 20m long with 4 auxiliary turrets. The inside isn't finished.

      I have been trying to put together a ship for the eve contest. All of these are not in style or within the rules. I have been playing as minmatar for 6 months. They have ships that are mostly ugly but some that are really nice. I need to get a workflow down. I might try for the prize but after that I am all shipped out and will probably switch to castles again, all these new plugins need some application in my old models.

      Some earlier work that is definitely WIP, in otherwords, would like some critique/help. This is a small spaceship fighter. Just playing around with Kerkythea, candy-apple red with chrome fittings would make a nice fighter, wouldn't it? Render5.jpg

      I am trying to put a hangar together with good lighting. What is a reasonable setting for the lights in kerkythea? The inside of the cans that the 360 lights are sitting in are highly reflective or should I do something different? I don't have overhead lighting yet, it is pretty rough. (pits of light, it burns!!)

      All the lights are components so they all have the same name in the kerkythea area which makes it tough to figure out which ones to change. Do I have to make a different component for each set of lights I want named differently?

      A starship with a few hours work into it.

      A small general cargo ship, sort of firefly-esque, but also quite different with side cranes for just about any cargo containers within size limits. Mostly working on the inside at the moment. Sense of scale: The cranes are just over 5m long.

      Hi,

      I have been using sketchup for a while now, since before version 7, but have only recently found this wonderful site. All my models up to last month were done with just the included tools. But having found this grand community of wonderful people and their plug-ins, I have drastically expanded (Surfaces take many less hours thanks to TIG and Fredo6). I have also started rendering, and so I will be posting a WIP thread shortly.

      I am mostly interested in Spaceships and Castles. When I am bored with one, the other is on the up-swing. Makes a continuous cycle.

      As I am a Software Engineer for my job I am interested in possibly writing my own plug-ins. I really haven't taken the leap yet, but once I get there I wouldn't mind proofreading/troubleshooting code as that is one of my most favorite things to do (before and after, not during). Just wondering but is it possible to write in different languages other than ruby? Or is the API monolingual?

      Just thought I would introduce myself, and promise a WIP thread so i will have motivation to post it. And be less of a reclusive lurker. πŸ˜„
