      Hi everybody :

I downloaded, from 3D Warehouse, a wooden lounger. It downloaded as part of a group (other parts were downloaded with it). I deleted the unwanted objects. And selected the lounger as just one object. I selected the entire lounger.....with the intent of making it a component. But.......when I was done making this into a component, there was a LARGE (excuse me if my terminology is incorrect) bounding box around it. When I imported this lounger into my project....this LARGE bounding box was included. How to I correct this problem ?

                                                   Thanks

No disrespect intended but lose the chair and go for some more standard furniture as it totally ruins a quite decent scene. I'm sorry mate but furniture like that has no place in your much improved renders. How about a garden table and chairs set?

      Mike Amos :
First....thanks for your reply. Looking at this rendering.........I'm beginning to think that that lounger IS a little "over done". I like the garden table and chairs. No offense.....but I'm still inclined toward furniture that's a bit more "relaxed". This may sound biased.......but I'd LOVE to have a place in the mountains like that. As for the chair......it IS kinda toooooo modern for that scene. I wasn't sure when I first modeled it.
      Thanks,

This one has a more relaxed tone to it.

This is the well-known "clipping" effect. Most often occurs when your model is located far from the SU origin. Also occurs more frequently if you are not in perspective mode.

      Bob James :
Thanks for your reply. I sort of understand what your saying. But in a way I don't. Two things I'm not clear on.........1)Being too far the the SU origin. And 2) Perspective Mode ?

      Hi everybody :

I'm currently using Sketchup 8. And a weird effect popped up when I zoom in close to my project. When I zoomed in, I could see a cross section of walls and windows. But, when I zoomed back to a wide view, everything looked "normal".
                                                                   garystan

Currently, I am using Sketchup 9 with Windows 7 Pro / 32-bit. Will either Sketchup 8 or Sketchup 2016 work with Windows 10 ? I also have the same concern with Twilight Render and iRender nXt. Thanks in advance...........garystan

      Hi everybody :

Is there a way to "lock" the walls ? The reason I ask, is that, sometimes, I accidentally MOVE or PUSH a wall. Thanks in Advance------garystan

    • Sketchup Extensions

      Hi everybody :
Currently I'm using Sketchup 8, and it's still functioning well. I do have a question about PlugIns. Is there a way to (temporarily) disable any PlugIns that I'm not using (at the current time) ? I downloaded a few PlugIns, and I think the plugins that I'm not currently using might be taking up memory space, causing Sketchup to function at a slower pace. Thanks in Advance--------garystan

This is a space that has two purposes. One is a Living Room. And the other is just a "conversation" room.

garystan, just want to reinforce I'm in no way knocking your efforts. By gosh your trying and asking questions and that's how you get better. Was a little bored last night so threw together an example model to try and better express some of the things I was saying. Have no idea the exact dimensions of your room so just sort of tried to get reasonably close. Just put representations of the 3 main elements. Killed the color as it was a little distracting from what I was trying to show. The piano is a concert grand and very close to real world dimensions. Lowered eye height and set F.O.V.to 45 degrees. My point is don't be afraid to experiment ... keep up your efforts πŸ‘

Thanks for your advice. I'll definitely keep your advice in mind.

Horizont of outside exterior is always tricky.

I usually set a 360Β° pano as background, so I don't have to worry about the horizont. It always matches. wherever your viewpoint is.

Here's an example (Have a look at exterior):

      jo-ke :

Do you mean a 360 degree panoramic background ? Could you explain more about this ? And how do I go about setting up a 360 degree background. Where do I find it ? Sorry about all the questions. But, this does sound interesting.

    • Creating a Drinking Glass

      Hi everybody :

Hopefully, this is the right place for this.
My question is......how do I create a drinking glass, with the appearance of having liquid in the glass ? The picture shows the method I use to create the glass. Of course, the "shape" shown is a simplified example.
