Yep, well said mate.
I went to a party on Saturday night, it was held in a hotel function room, and ended up having to join the smokers outside while it was p!ssing down with rain....the venue didn't permit vaping indoors...!!
bugga eh ??

Oli, maybe one day you will have a topic titled :
"Any Vapers Here ? Wanna Quit?"
I can thoroughly recommend the Provari (I have the older model). The only thing I have replaced is the extension cap at the bottom of the unit because the spring came out and it was a pain in the @rse getting it back in the right position each time I replaced a battery..!
I think Oli's is variable wattage and variable voltage....not sure what advantages that has, but he will be able to tell us more.
As for the Nautilus Mini, get the big one....it holds nearly 5ml of juice and you are less likley to burn the coil because the juice won't get as low as quickly. But the Mini is a good start.
I ended up getting the tank with a stainless steel sleeve...the unprotected glass tanks look very vulnerable....!!
I have a 5.1 ch Yamaha system and until recently I had a turntable to play my vinyls (my collection consists of a thousand or so vinyl singles and LPs)
Mostly I listen to CD's and downloaded music from my iPod these days. But I miss the rawness of the vinyls though.
Hiya baz....welcome to the 'club'
What state do you live in mate ?
There are many choices out there as you are probably discovering. I went all out and bought a Provari. My thinking was that if I committed myself to a first class unit I would be more likely to stay with it....and I did.
However, Provaris are in the $200-$300 range in Australia but there are some more economical ways to get a good start and still be enjoying the experience. I get between 24 and 36 hours use out of my batteries.
Joytech seem to popular here in Adelaide. They do a couple of models and range from around $45 to $90.

Some of the other guys will be able to add some more suggestions.
As far as eJuices are concerned, you will need to go through the trial and error phase to find out what it is you like. Most of us have spent (and probably wasted) a bit of money in the early days while we sourced good suppliers.
For what it's worth, I found these in the USA who supply juices with nicotine :
And, these guys in Adelaide supply great juices without nicotine :
You will need to import your own unflavoured nicotine juice if you buy juices without nicotine. I get mine from here :
A 1 litre container is about $50. But postage is a killer !!....but here in Australia we don't have much of a choice. It will take around a week for it too be delivered, so planning ahead is important.
You can choose the nicotine strength, and the PG/VG mix. I personally find that a 50/50 PG/VG is generally the best.
Sorry if that was too long and too much information to take in. The other guys will probably be more helpful than me, but hopefully this gives you somewhere to start.
Good luck mate !
Just took delivery of my new Aspire Nautilus BVC......very bloody nice so far.
I have been switching between the Vivi Novas and the Aspire BDC coils for over a year.
The BDC coils produce a great flavour but are unreliable (some last only a few days and some are dead when they come out of the packet !!)
Hope the BVC coils last longer !!
Great stuff mate.
Can't wait to see it finished, and rendered...!!
Thanks mate.
Yes it does feel good....although it would feel even better if I hadn't cheated a couple of times along the way....!!
WOOHOO
12 months is up...finally chalked up a milestone...!!
Yep, I definitely feel better for it.
There was a time last year when I felt the occasional urge to smoke, but that has pretty much disappeared now.
I think I have had 3 or 4 stinky sticks in the past 12 months but haven't been able to get past a few puffs of each...and I hated it each time I did it...!
So I won't include those occasional indiscretions in marking my anniversary in a couple of weeks
I bet that room smelled nice with all that vape wafting around. Did other people look at you with suspicion, or is vaping generally accepted where you are ?
March 10 will officially mark my first anniversary. Interestingly, I rarely ever feel the urge to want to smoke a stinky stick any more..!
Hi David,
Thanks for that.
You are getting some great results from ngPlants and Cycles.
You are correct in saying that ngPlants doesn't have a Triangulation function. I also find that Tig's Triangulation tool doesn't achieve much with these either. Having said that, I may be using it incorrectly (apologies in advance to Tig if that is the case..!!)
For most trees it probably doesn't matter too much, but last week I was modelling a Boab Tree, and the trunks are large in diameter and are often quite rounded....this means using a higher resolution to avoid the appearance of too many segments on the trunk face, which of course increases the number of faces and ultimately the size of the file.
The reverse faces issue has been solved....I used Thomtom's UV Toolkit and used 'Backface Material to Frontface" (which seemed logical to me..!!) instead of 'Frontface Material to Backface' which worked a treat.
PS Sorry for hijacking your topic David and taking it down the path of ngPlants, but I figured it was better than opening another topic at this point. Perhaps one of us (I reckon you should cos you are the most proficient..!) should open a Topic on ngPlants where people could show, share and maybe swap tree and plant models (?)
Here is my attempt at a Boab Tree (and quickly rendered in Twilight)
@rich o brien said:
Resolution has nothing to do with it.
Did you recalculate the normals in Blender? CTRL + N
Also if you export the .obj without triangulating first then on import into SU you are playing Russian roulette as to what SU will do.
Nope.....I don't use Blender....is that a prerequisite ?
Problem solved (mostly).....a lower resolution seems to fix the faces issue, but it isn't giving me the result i really want
it was a bricklayers nightmare...!
perhaps better to look at these images > http://architectureau.com/articles/inside-out-frank-gehrys-new-business-school-for-uts/?utm_source=ArchitectureAU%26amp;utm_campaign=7a8ac7a788-AAU_2015_02_03%26amp;utm_medium=email%26amp;utm_term=0_e3604e2a4a-7a8ac7a788-39690482#img=0
ngPlant is excellent.
i have been experimenting with it for a few days
....but how do you get the models into SketchUp with the textures showing properly (i am using Obj import but some faces are reversed and when i reverse the back faces the textures are missing)...?
