What's perhaps more impressive is, that Jon is only 16 years old... 😲 πŸ˜„

Also need to download KT Echo 2008. What is the relearning curve like?

Well... I'm aware that you already have much knowledge with KT2007, so I believe that changing to KT2008 Echo will be a very positive experience for you... πŸ˜‰

The GUI has changed, the render engine is much more stable (optimized) and there's many new and enhanced features...
But all the basics are identical to KT2007, so basically you only need to adapt the new Material Editor interface, but I feel that it's much better and easier to use compared to the previous versions... πŸ˜‰

But then again... My point of view isn't objective... πŸ˜‰

So it's added in KT... πŸ˜‰

      Hi pichuneke,

Regarding the su2kt "bug", here's the reply I've received from Tomasz... πŸ˜‰

      @unknownuser said:

SU2KT doesn't export photomatched textures on nested faces (inside group or component). I have checked that there is texturewriter2 in C++ SDK, but it is at least not documented in Ruby .. I have to find work-around for it.

VfSU is fun to use when you discover which buttons to touch and which you have to leave alone. Mostly that second thing is important.
I only touch about 5% off all the buttons it has....and to be honest, the other 95 % scare the living sh*t out of me πŸ˜„.

Obviously I'm still stuck with finding the right buttons to touch and which to leave alone... 😳
I bought the VfSU back when it was released, but found it too "buggy"... Perhaps I should spend more time on it...!? πŸ˜‰

      Cheers for the "heads up"...!

Very crisp and clean, and I'm impressed by the light tests you've made... Stunning!!

Looks like you've got a long way using Vray...!! πŸ˜‰

Is this Vray for SU or another Vray engine..??

    • RE: SU2KT 3.0 Released

      Hi All,

The new SU2KT version 3.0 has been released! πŸ˜„
Credit for this new excellent integration with Google SU goes to Tomasz Marek...

List of bug fixes and new features:

      • Memory leak bug fixed (SU2KT used to freeze on big scenes)
      • KT library materials import added - use KT Library materials inside SU
      • Back-face material exported when no front material specified or default (painted faces have priority over default material)
      • Optional Photo-matched faces\textures export (slower) as a selection or as exploded faces
      • Model opening in KT after export (Win only - so far)
      • Automatic animation rendering after path export (Win only - so far)
      • Wrong date bug and Time bug for non GMT locations fixed
      • Icons added for export options
      • Tools for placing spot & pointlights added
      • When KT material has no texture - SU2KT will use SU texture as a bump map
      • Correct Sun intensity when model opened automatically - otherwise please update Sun in KT Sun Wizard window
      • Sun animation will modify Sky as well - Download sample AVI (Xvid - 2,3MB)
      • Default UVs export option - for later texturing inside KT
      • Intensity of colours back to 1.0
      • Missing GIF textures bug fixed

Fletch has prepared a bunch of three VIDEO Tutorials! Thanks a lot!
      Simple SU2KT Export example (7.9MB)
      Photomatch feature (4MB)
      KT Materials Import (10.3 MB)

To download the new SU2KT, please visit the KT repository...

Could be fun - if you care to share the SU model - to see what render results others would be able to achieve... πŸ˜‰

      Hi Nomi,

      That's a very nice start... πŸ˜‰

      @nomicrowave said:

I did the render with Kerky. The thing that bothers me is, I haven't figured out how to light up the windows like it's daytime outside. Anyone know of a tutorial that I could use?

Have you taken a look at the Getting Started tutorial..?? πŸ˜•
On page 21 you can see how to apply a spherical sky, and in our download section, you can download some very nice spherical sky probes...

Of course you need to make sure that your windows have a thin glass material assigned so that they appear to be real windows... πŸ˜‰

In the KT Forum you can get much support, if you get stuck with a render or need some advice about how to improve it... πŸ˜‰

I hope that this bug can help you in the development of Kerkythea.

Well... This is actually not a bug in KT, but more likely something with the SU2KT exporter... πŸ˜‰
But I can assure you that I will point Tomasz (the creator of the su2kt plug-in) to this thread... πŸ˜‰

And Frederik, I am sure you know of that, but after exporting to kerkythea to make a render of it, the curved surfaces lose the position of the textures... 😞

Actually I haven't tried render it in KT... 😳 (Been too busy with other stuff...)

I couldn't just ignore your comment, so I gave it a shot, and you're right... When using SU2KT, the textures are getting distorted... 😞
But if you export the model as to an obj-file, then there's no problem at all... πŸ˜‰

If you don't have SU Pro, you can download the free Wavefront obj exporter... πŸ˜‰

I have no idea why this is... Maybe it's the SU2KT exporter lacking some kind of feature, maybe it's the way SU handles textures... πŸ˜•

Any way... You can download your model exported to kzx incl. textures etc. from here and below you'll see a quick render of your scene... πŸ˜‰
