Maggie; yes I have mined Herr Engels information (even bought a membership to his site) and have gotten a lot of useful detail info. There are however, large holes in the info which I can get without paying a few G's for the complete set of drawings.
I do plan to texture the entire model with the appropriate material, i.e. spruce, fir, painted metal frame, steel, etc.
I'm not sure exactly what color scheme I will use for the red version. Most red triplanes are historically inaccurate, I want to be as accurate as I can be with the info that I can find. There are individuals that are fanatical about documenting the history of this interesting aircraft. There where only three hundred or so aircraft that went into service, for less than a year at the end of the war (1917-18). The original aircraft are extremely scarce, along with original parts. The US does not even have an original DR.1 in any museum on it's soil.
