Hi Guys. I've finally got SP working with Su2014 and have applied a servo joint to my aircraft retractable nose-wheel and leg-assembly model. Too difficult to insert image.(need a copy and paste facility) However, when I toggle 'Play', my assembly loses contact with it's rotational axis and floats away from what should be it's location axle. I can still make it retract as required, but not around it's fixed point.
It is anchored to a 'static' 'box' for this trial and I have it's status as a 'frozen' default shape.
      Where am I going wrong?

      Cheers, Doug, aka Deskpilot

Thankyou very much Anton, it's all there now. I'll play with it a bit later (only just got up). As you been discussing, this needs to put out there for the wider community.

Sorry to bother you again Anton but try as I might, I'm still not getting SP to work. All looks good when I view my files. All sub folder appear to be there but in SU, there's no sign off it.
      Is this correct?
      C:\Program Files (x86)\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\Plugins\SketchyPhysics3
In the SP3 folders, there's every thing I would expect.
Where else should there be folders or files that I can check?
BTW, I completely uninstalled/deleted everything and started again with a fresh download.

    • RE: SketchyPhysics 3.5.6 (26 January 2015)

May I jump in on this thread gents. I've recently purchased a new pc,loaded SU2014Make and SP3.5.5.. Kept getting that annoying warning about a bad install so I went back a step and loaded an earlier version, 3.1. Now, full install seems OK but the plugin is permanently disabled. Try as I might, I can't get it to do anything but say it will be disabled next time I fire up my pc. Any answers please. If I have to go into DOS or similar, please explain all steps.

    • RE: SketchyPhysics working in SU 2013

Not sure if there's another thread for this but, isn't there a fix for SP and SU2014 yet? I have loaded the program but it just won't run. Searching the net and one sees various suggestions to open CMD files etc but we're not all pc literate. An suggestions folk?

    • RE: Skb files

Thanks guys. Zipping doesn't do it, breaking the model into smaller parts doesn't do it so I think those that want my model are going to have to make their own.

I have a model that is too large (48.6Mbs) to upload to the warehouse but others want a copy. Can I use the .skb or .skp file as an info transfer to an on line forum? I have tried but nothing seems to work.

    • RE: What do people use SketchUp for?

I use SU to keep my old brain alive(71). No, that's just a side effect. Actually, I'm a recreational Pilot with a wish to build my own plane. A plane that's "different" and SU is enabling me design it. Whilst most of the models I have seen on this site are Architectural, the Warehouse shows many people using it for Mechanical Engineering. I consider myself a rank amateur compared to most of you but I do my best.

    • RE: Newbie to SP in need of help.

SP gear.jpgHi DanY, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if this should be moved to another part of the forum so I'll leave that to the moderators.

My undercarriage is a separate model and my first SP.

The left hand actuator arm is motor driven around it's static bottom pivot....working.(With Other Parts Hidden)
The green arms swing freely on their static mounting.......working (WOPH)
The top leg assembly swings freely from its static mount (WOPH)
The angled actuator rod locks every thing up but, if I hide it all except the top joint, it moves with the motorised arm and swivels(the u-bracket) correctly.
I cannot move the full leg assembly in isolation.

I'm guessing that it's something to do with each parts characteristics ie frozen, staticmesh etc.
What should happen is as the arm is slowly rotated, the rod pulls the top of the blue leg towards the left and the green arms cause the joint to rotate, bringing the wheels up and out in an arch until it is parallel to the ground. The green arms are wide enough for the leg fold and fit in between them. If the wheel clashes with the top fixture, I can lengthen the lower leg.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

      Cheers

    • Newbie to SP in need of help.

G'day all, greetings from Adelaide, South Australia.

I have been using SU for some time now and have got to a point where I need SP as well. My models are of ultralight or recreational aircraft that I would like to build some day.
Currently I'm working on a retractable under carriage that I just cannot get to work. Where do I go from here? I would include an image but can't get that to work either ❓
If any of these images show up, they're samples of my work. They appear to be showing but things do get lost in hyperspace.

Happy to converse with one and all.

      Cheers, Doug. aka Deskpilot.
