knew you would have a good reason for it! I use a back mitre cut when I want to get rid of handles. It gives a flush finish on the top of the bedside cabinet but still easy to open. The image is not to scale -just to explain the concept.

Very nice - just wondering from a woodworking point of view why the drawer front on the bedside locker seems to project above the top surface?

I dont like to nit pick as I can only dream of this quality of model / render.

      Cheers kwistenbiebel

Really like the output you got. As I said all the help here is fantastic - i need to go away, improve my models, materials, lighting, composition, read manuals, look at videos and then when I take my tail from between my legs and post a new render I will see how well I have progressed.

Thanks again everyone for all your help.

      Cheers

      Hi Frederik

Can you give me a link to the videos as I cant find them on the Twilight forum - my blindness amazes me sometimes - probably why I missed the reflections on the walls!!! ๐Ÿ˜’

      Hi Frederik

Just got in and saw your comments - thanks for taking the time to look at the model. Some questions:

      1. How do I load your IES file when I open the light editor I cant get it to load as the option is "greyed out".
      2. Where can I find the thin glass material in the materials editor - i didnt see it as an option?
      3. I didnt realise the point light components were in the ceiling - I have never placed them in a model before and was therefore unaware that it was a component in the model - i thought it was just a light source placed in the model and did not have a physical presence. - Your model shows Pot lights as a physical item - is this generated by the point light button in the Twilight render toolbar or is it an SU component?
      4. How do I stop a wall from being refelctive - do I go into the materials in Twilight and adjust a setting and if so wqhich one?

Thanks for the feeedback - Ecuador has asked me to try the Twilight forum for more help and feedback so I should get plenty of good direction from all the pro's

      Cheers

      cheers guys
I have done a quick render with the light intensity increased on all 4 point lights - definitely helps.
I haven't tried the other tips yet, I will give all these a go later tonight as I've got to do some work now!!!

      Thanks

    • Office Render - Its better but not much!!!

      Hi Guys

Just did a quick Twilight render of a simple office/library I am working on - used four point lights in the ceiling and layered the walls so that I could turn one off and look into the room - I've a few questions:

Why is there no light coming in from through the windows and they are showing up black?
How many lights do I need to put intop this small room to illuminate it to a decent level?
What level of detail should I go to to make the scene look interesting?
      Any idas would be appreciated
      Thanks

This is the render - Low cooked in around 4mins

      Hi Honolulu

I have binned it! I am going to start from first principles again and remodel the building so that I can layer the walls etc. I need to try and accept my limits at the minute and get good models produced first and then work towards decent renders.

I appreciate all the community efforts to help but I must "pull my horns" in as they say here and calm down and work slowly to ensure I understand all aspects of this brilliant design medium.

    • RE: How do you set up a decent viewpoint for a render

      Hi Honolulu and Al,

The view i have set up is shown in the above post - there is no wall!! My question is this - why does the renderer not render the view you see in SU?

I have tried others and they are showing wide angled views of the whole model - it is very frustrating - my screen can consider itself very lucky it hasnt got my shoe through it 10 times tonght!!!!

I am really showing my lack of experience here and I know I have to crawl before I walk but boy is it frustrating. IS there a really dumb user help desk I can seek advice from as you guys are really at a much higher level than me?

    • RE: How do you set up a decent viewpoint for a render

Thanks for the comments alpro. The view I am trying to render is shown in the attached picture and the output was as you can see - a green rectangular square of nothingness. I know my models are very basic but I thought i could get some sort of decent output after spending time trying to get the materials set up in Twilight. Is there someone out there who has a step by step guide to rendering a simple interior shot that I can follow?
