Small animation created with SketchyPhysics. The color change part was created with Motiva SOAP. Overlays created in GIMP. Image transitions created in Windows Movie Maker. Final edit made with VideoMach. Some HDR Image conversion made in Picturenaut.

Original car model from the 3D warehouse, modified by me on this thread. Walking woman model from the 3D warehouse, rigged by phonic.

If you don't know what SketchyPhysics is, it's a free Physics simulation plug-in for SketchUp, and available here.

Picturenaut is a free HDR image tool. I used it here to convert Twilight Render's .hdr files to .exr files for Motiva SOAP. It also has tonemapping capabilities and a lot of things I have yet to try because I only downloaded it today.

Motiva SOAP is an AWESOME post-production tool capable of changing lights and materials in real time. It's free and can be downloaded from here.

I apologize to purists for having chosen a Metal rendition of Tchaikovsky's Chinese Dance from the Nutcracker Suite as the background music. I'll try to find a better AudioSwap track.

Wow Miguel, that's neat! ...and thanks for the detailed info about how you did it all

Seriously, what do you do besides play with Sketchup and answer questions on here and Twilight's forum? 😆

What impresses me the most about this. . .which is a lot. . .is that again. . .there is no driver and no damage to the car smashing into telephone poles. As often as I have done that it has never worked for me. 😎

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

                          Great work Miguel!

I see a lot of potential for walking people and cars that drive around in scenes.
Hopefully, a lot of SP users upload a lot of pre-rigged ones we can use.
Maybe even a commerical package with high quality ones? Why not.
Recently I called for a simplyfied SP version, solely for setting up things like that easily in arch scenes.

It would lift Sketchups animation capabilities to another level.

@d12dozr: I consider the time I spend in these experiments and solving other people's questions as "training".

@Rocky: This girl is the only animated character I've been able to find, so you'll be seeing her a lot until I learn to rig and animate my own.

@Richard: The dancing log at the end was really odd, but then again I often get similar oddities with SketchyPhysics.

@David_H: Let's hope "SketchyPhysics 5 - Monster Truck Madness" features car damage. 😎

Thanks for the comments. I think I'll drop by the SP forum, as I still know next to nothing about it, except how to make things crash. The girl was animated by phonic, a Japanese guy who is a sheer genius.
