The color is way off, which is distracting, but as for the model itself, the texture orientation on the windows bothers me even more. I assume they're wood -- although the render texture isn't convincing -- but I would take a little time and align the texture with each portion (jamb, sill, header, etc) of the window. A little chamfer wouldn't hurt, either -- just too sharp looking right now. All that said, it's not a bad render -- those just the things I would recommend doing next time. Thanks for posting it.

Hi, delineator: Your new version is nice also, with more definition of the foreground texture. However, a key element-the ring- is more subdued. This is just my opinion, but I feel the first image is more effective.

pyroluna: thanks for the compliment, and dropping by once again. the renderer i used, vray for sketchup. never mind the graininess, it keeps up with the quite dirty atmosphere of the room. lapx: thanks bro!! my technique for the carpet, import any colorful jpeg or bitmap into sketchup and use as texture. after that put some displacement on the texture with a multiplier of, say 5 to 8. that's it!! you have a colorful carpet in your scene.

Great work Delineator! Looks like the kind of place that is usually busy I expect it would be exceedingly difficult to populate the render with a convincing crowd. Another approach (easier) would be to have it communicate a story as to why it is empty of people. One idea that comes to mind, based on your description of the kind of place it is, would be to turn it into a crime scene. You could draw some chalk outlines on the ground where the bodies were found and put up some police tape barriers. Furthermore the cafe tables could be dressed to look like they were quickly abandoned with glassware & dishes, and maybe table cloths with one or two pulled askew. A chair could be flipped. And perhaps the blimp could have a flood light shining down... Regards, Ross

@rick graham: man that would be a great idea, a "model this" competition for each and everyone's favorite song or artist. i'd be willing to join with a new entry, a led zeppelin song perhaps!!! hehe!! let's get it on!!! @massimo, @numbthumb: yes it was hendrix' version that inspired this work. guys, rick graham was suggesting to have a competition, "model this" based on your fave artist or song!! that would be fun!! raise your hands for this to push through!!
