Thanks, Dave. What's truly amazing is how much real work I can avoid by making obsessively detailed models.
BTW, the Gamble House bed you showed on the SU Forum is pretty slick, too.

Thanks, CJ. Changing the field of view put the highboy on a diet.

RE: Highboy completed
Thanks, l i am. You're right that the model looks fatter than the original, but when I measure the width it comes out right. Go figure.

Not sure when I'll make it to Boston, so keep the beer on ice, jtri.

It's a beginning
Found some good images of a bonnet-top highboy from the Townsend-Goddard School in Newport, Rhode Island. The piece has some nice carving and nice brasses. The shell in the model isn't exact, but close. I still have to finish the ball-and-claw feet and cabriole legs (the rear legs have a slipper foot), then make my way up to the bonnet. Stay tuned.
Enjoy.

Another Wegner chair finished
Done. Figuring out how to model the rush seat was really time-consuming. My model is next to an image of the real chair, with the working drawings above. I may still change the texture to an ash or oak wood grain.
Enjoy.

RE: Another Wegner chair
Easy, Frenchy. Wegner's chairs are in several museums, including one in his home town in Denmark. Fortunately, I don't have to steal anything as long as I have good digital documentation.

RE: Another Wegner chair
Thanks, gents. I'm going to take this one slow, I think.

Another Wegner chair
Hans J. Wegner designed some 500 chairs in his 50-year career. If and when I finish this one, I'll only have four hundred and ninety-five to go. At least it helps to have good source material. In this case, it's the original drawing Wegner made for the woodworkers at PP Mobler, the Danish firm that produces the chair. Wegner designed this one as a modern take on the classic Windsor .
Enjoy.

RE: Milestone
I appreciate the good words, Cotty and Hornoxx. And I'd be happy with any adult beverage.
