Thanks, all.
Spent the morning modeling the front legs. All that remains is the mortise-and-tenon joinery and some sort of upholstery.

Work in Progress
All,
I've been slowly creating a model of an elaborate Regency armchair. (With some generous help from Dave Richards, who taught me a few things about the Shape Bender plug-in.) The arms and the back seat were easy; the reeded top rail on the back and the bent, twisted back support were the biggest challenge so far. But as you can see from the photo, the front legs won't exactly be a walk in the park.
Let me know what you think.

RE: 5 axel designing
I think the basic turnings are easy to model with SketchUp's Follow Me Tool. The helical portion of the turning can be generated with the help of a plug-in. But the carving would be difficult, if not impossible, to model.

RE: Egg and Dart Molding
JQL,
I'm afraid I don't follow you. Are you referring to the first step, where I say to erase the waste after doing the Intersect Faces command?

Egg and Dart Molding
egg and dart tut.skpI found a pretty easy way to model egg-and-dart molding. It's described in the attached tutorial.
Hope it's helpful.

RE: Latest woodworking project
Very nice. And the bocote makes a nice contrast with the ash.

A bench for music lovers
I've wanted to do this for a long time. I call it my Fats Waller Piano Bench, an homage to the noted piano player Fats Waller and one of his signature numbers, "Your Feet's Too Big."
Enjoy

RE: New Stickley table design
Very attractive design. I especially like the slats between the legs. If it's a work in progress, how about trying an alternative style for the legs: 3" or 4" square instead of the curved Limbert-style legs?

RE: A Tall Case with Glass Doors
Very nice, Dave, and nicely proportioned. Why overlay doors? How would the case look if the doors were flush with the cse?

Looks good, Dave.
The wife didn't want drawers in the desk?

Tansu run amok.
Is this a real installation or a well-rendered SU model?

RE: Please be seated
I posted PNG files so you wouldn't look for nits (not that you'd find many, of course)

Please be seated
For some reason, chairs have caught my modeling fancy lately. Here are three that I did in the last week or so. All were done from pieces for sale on the One Kings Lane web site. I enjoy the challenge of modeling when I have only a couple of photos and a dimension or two with which to work.

RE: What's up with the 3D Warehouse?
Dear Scott,
I had an email from someone named Tommy at SketchUp support, and he seems to have fixed some of the models. However, the stats are 3 or 4 days old; before, they were only a day behind.
Here's a link the model I posted most recently to the Warehouse:Many thanks in advance for your help.

What's up with the 3D Warehouse?
For some reason, the statistics for views and downloads for models on the 3D Warehouse haven't been updated since Dec. 11. Does anyone know whom to contact at Google or Trimble to find out what the problem might be?

RE: French Tilt Top Table in Walnut
Dave,
Very nice, as usual. With a rectangular top, the piece would make a fine drafting table. (But does anyone still use drafting tables?)

Looks like the problem has been solved, whatever it was.

Has anyone noticed something odd about the 3D Warehouse?
The data for views and downloads for models in the 3D warehouse seems to be stuck on August 24. Anyone know whom to contact at Trimble to try to fix that?
Thanks,
