Well i thought id just add the final model , although basic to look at, i'm pleased with the dynamic aspect of it.

I can change the overall dims and the key design aspects using the components options box, and I have assigned the components to different layers for selective viewing of different parts.

Just one last thing! how to miter the ends of the plinth rails in such a way is will redraw correctly?

The answer is probably the scale function but i haven't yet got a full grip on this control in the attributes fields.

I have just worked out how to make this work.

The trick is to encase all components into top level component, this top level component holds the data needed to create the user options . Now the dims calculate as I hoped.

So Basically my mistake DOH!

Nope still not working or me i, pretty sure there is something amiss with the program.

I have made a new test box and all was working well the components menu was driving the component nicely , until i added the plinth rail, the rail length x supposed to be driven by the parent overall length less a couple of other parent fields , but thats not the issue as you can see the parent model is now not rebuilding the correct size shown in the components option field.

look at overall length options says 800mm
but the model is generating a length of 3199mm

I didn't intend using any scaling just simple addition and subtraction of parent perimeters, iv obviously pulled a clanger some ware , I will attempt to rework the model

Hi People can someone take a look at this and see if its me.

I have a dynamic component ( Ottoman box ) with a sub comp (Plinth) it seems to me that adding plinth as a sub comp is effecting the correct width calculation of the ottoman box, when driving through a new width dimension from the components options.

The plinth comp also has a hidden sub comp to allow a mitered cut at each end.

When i extract the Plinth comp ( using outliner) the ottoman box dims options are correct.

I have resently moved to SU 2015 version on a 64bit machine but had to install SU 32bit due to crashing..

Should i go back to SU2014 32bit for more stable Dynamic Components ?

I may have overlooked something of my own doing..

Id love to have a plugin that flattens and leaves you with dxfs bit like the last steps of slicer..

For got to mention there are two hardwood parts in the model that are shown in a wood texture , these would not be cnc cut..

Hi Sketchup users

I have an upholstery company that id like to introduce cnc frames into without the big ticket that usually comes with it. I can draw the frames and show them how to do this,I a can also find local cnc router companies to cut out the 18mm ply, what I cannot do is flatten the components with a plugin or perhaps export the profiles as either separate dxf files or perhaps even nested.

At some point they will need to control there own workflow from the frame drawing to emailing
router-ble data so the steps need to be clean for both the upholstery company and the cnc company.

Is this possible with Sketchup?

I have attached a file for anyone to look and see what I'm proposing.

Mmmm i tried to embed other drawings and got the same Error, i can only assume there's something amiss with the Warehouse at the moment...

Is anyone else having trouble embedding 3D Viewer, i had it working a couple of months ago ,
just upgraded to SU2014 to use the new up-loader, tried embedding into my site and now get a nasty error message.

Hi People id like to introduce myself to this site.
My name is Danny, I've been looking in on SU sites and users over the last few years , having a go with the free version on and off , and am now committed to learning SU fully, but im a slow learner.
I work within the Upholstery sector in the UK and prototype new products for Branded furniture. Making upholstery is my profession, and have used Solidworks and lectra , both have taken up more of my time than id have liked ,enjoyed, but both a given me a insite to cad software albeit via work constraints.

Anyway i am getting to grips with SU love all the free vids tutorials can see a large vibrant community with lots of new things to learn and play about with.
SU just feels like the right horse to back.

I recognize the attraction for some of the Plugins and have downloaded some manually in to suv8 and trial pro

I also tried trial pro 2013 then went back to v8,

Installed the plugin store and have failed to add pluggins via the store interface,

looks like they are downloading because im asked for install permissions but don't seam to
see them in the v8 plugins folder or show up in SU . im sure it worked on the trial pro version i had running and now suspect some file save error .

Any way any help is appreciated ! I have allot to learn .

Getting a pro version ASAP need to play with solid's and dynamic components.
