    • Scripting or Extension question

Hi, I'm modeling a small city and need to find an automated solution to a problem I've encountered. I have a topo model from Sketchup's geolocation and all of the buildings modeled from a GIS database that was imported into Sketchup via a plug-in.

The building models are generated automatically, which is a huge timesaver, but all of the buildings sit on a single flat plane. So I installed the Drop GC extension, which automatically places objects on a sloping surface. Each building is it's own group (good), but the group's axis origin is set to the world 0,0,0 point (bad). Consequently, when I use the DropGC plugin, it buries the building too far into the ground.

So I explode the group and redefine it as a component, with an axis origin point that is located at the base of the building (instead of world 0,0,0). DropGC works fine and places the building at the right Z height. Easy to do with a few buildings but my model has at least a thousand buildings. So my question is... is there an extension or script that will automatically explode a group and create a component, a thousand times? Or maybe something like Actions for Photoshop?

I've attached an image of the model but it doesn't really help describe the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
