Ciao,
felice di sentirti.
No ancora non l'ho scaricato e a dire il vero non vedo il link nel tuo primo post.
Si scarica forse dal tuo sito web?

gosh...I just realized that before my post the thread stopped exactly 1 year ago !
I was talking to myself...
looking at it again...it has something of the Gundam cockpit.
This plugin is just great !
I am using it to make a curved structural cage in front of a building.
A bit like Prada building in Tokyo, by HdeM, but the cage is separated from the facade.
It does not work always on very complex shapes but it's incredibly useful !!!
Many thanks indeed !
Fortissimo !
FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD
Great !
We really needed an interface to contain/call all the plugins.
I was talking on friday with the Product Manager of Google in charge of Sketchup. I met him in Tokyo at "Archifuture" (http://www.archifuture.jp/2011/ a very cool event mostly about algorithmic design) and I was telling him that I was using SU since before it was bought by Google and that the 2 great things about the software were the flexibility given by ruby and the plugins and the fact that was free.
As a reply to this latter part he showed me the photo of his kids on his mobile and told me that he had to feed them by selling the Pro version. I pretty much understand his point.
A very nice and funny guy. We had a good talk.
I told him that SU and Google Earth could be precious in reconstructing the pre-disaster situation of the areas hit by the earthquake in Japan (a project that I am considering).
He told me that Google did something similar already supporting a group that tried to reconstruct virtually l'Aquila (the Italian town hit by the earthquake).
Back to the interface...I don't remember if you already answered this question but...will it be ok also for the Mac?
hi,
tested your v2.1.
Warning message appears.
This will be useful to notify users of the language problem.
Best !
this is going to be a great plugin !
I was using SoapSkin Bubble to make curved surfaces from 4 connected curves/lines and that one too is a great plugin. It allowed me to produce projects with free form facades or landscaping.
But the ability to manipulate the surface after it has been created is a great addition!
many thanks !
I see.
Again, thanks really a lot for the great and friendly support to your plugin !
My best to you and Hawaii (I`d love to go there sooner or later).
Thank you.
Ok.
Maybe it`s SU8 that works in a different way then, because SU7 could import DXF from my Japanese computer even if the filepath had kana characters.
If solving this is impractical I will use SU7 for importing and then open the SKP file with SU8 to work on it.
Best !
Gaieus,
if it's you the one in the avatar space, then you`re almost identical to the european husband of a Pakistan friend of mine I knew a long time ago when we were both foreign students at a university in Tokyo.
I don`t remember if he was from Germany or from eastern europe.
Not that this means anything to you, I know.
But when I saw the picture I thought for a moment "Gosh, I know him".
Hi,
this is just to add that the problem of dxf importing into SU8 has been identified.
The author kindly noticed that there was an incompatibility with filepath names containing non-roman characters (like Japanese katakana, in my case).
My dxf filename was in english but my desktop name was in katakana.
Best, from Japan!
Yep!
The problem is caused by the katakana characters in the filepath.
I imported the v2010 dxf from an external drive with an english filepath and it showed up just fine !
Glad that there is a workaround for the moment.
Hope that someone can solve the issue, sooner or later. Language free would be good as SU is quite used her in Japan too.
Many thanks for your help !
Hi,
first of all thanks for your kind and speedy reply.
I retried today but didn't succeed in importing anything.
Yes, I did zoom all but nothing showed up.
Ruby Console message reads:
"Error: #<Errno::ENOENT: No such file or directory - C:\Documents and Settings\corbella\γγΉγ―γγγ\test_v2000.dxf>

The strange thing is that it does not show me the shapes even when I import them with "pointer" for origin placement.
It looks like it ignores the import command.
I am using your v.2.0 version, dropped in the plugin folder.
Am I missing any other file?
Bye from Japan
Thanks Pilou,
I will look into it !
Of course I too like free the most, but Octane beta was extremely cheap for what it offered.
Anyway it's great to see that SU is attracting so many users that a lots of companies now are releasing internal renderers or specific plugings for external ones.
Just looking at your post, Pilou, "the Doppleganger" (http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=37098) I was amazed and left in contemplation.
I also like quite much the feeling given by the native simple way SU renders the models.
The superb work of Monsterzero just explains that:

Hi Gaieus and Pilou,
I restored the plugin folder and now it runs ok.
Should have been the first thing to do.
Thanks a lot for the advice !
BTW I had made a search for a DXF import plugin right after my post here and I found the post that Gaieus pointed me to.
It seemed to me the perfect solution: the latest free SU + a great DXF importer plugin.
The last post on that thread is infact mine.
I installed SU8 and the plugin but test dxf (with only a few rectangles)
are not imported, no matter which version I use to save them from Autocad 2011.
I hope the plugin author or someone else will have the time and kindness to see into this problem.
Anyway I love SU, and the zillions of plugins available make it a real versatile tool to model with. With good textures the models come to life.
I now also have the beta of Octane, which is amazing for rendering quality and speed.
I just probably don`t have enough computer resources 'cause it crashes when importing complex models.
Thanks a lot for your kind replies!
Hi,
first of all thank you very much for the hard work in making this precious plugin.
I was reluctanct to install SU8 because it lacks DWG/DXF import.
As I found your plugin I immediately downloaded SU8 and gave it a try.
I exported from Autocad 2011 a bunch of simple rectangles in dxf of several versions:
R12, 2000,2004,2007,2010.(BTW, up to which version the DXF is supported by your plug-in?)
I tried to import them into SU8(free) via the File/import DXF command in SU8 but none of them was imported.
Scale was correctly set, so I wonder what am I doing wrong.
I attach 2 dxf files (2000 and 2010) in case you have the time and patience to give them a look.
Any help from you or others who are following this thread will be greatly appreciated.
Again, many thanks for your work.
Cheers,

Hi everybody,
I was silently following SKU forums since maybe 1yr, and I got truly precious information and advices just by reading through them.
So, now that I just registered SKUcation, I wanted first of all to say hello and thanks to you all.
I also have an issue with SK to which maybe some of you might offer some help.
It is not a bug but a problem caused, probably, by inappropriate removal of plugin files.
As you know, while some have an uninstaller others have to be removed manually.
I don`t think I removed anything else than the plugin files that I wanted to get rid of, but the result is that SK7 now crashes at startup.
I don`t want to install SK8 as it seems it does not import DWG anymore.
Does any of you have an installer of SK (free) version 7 for Windows?
I would like to reinstall it but on Google site I couldn`t find a download link to older versions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
Many thanks indeed !
