Help please.I'm trying to make an umbrella 'pop up' (bring the centre up before adding a pole) just can't get it to follow the blue axis.

I'm trying to understand how the texture aspect ratio box works. Whatever I type in the top or bottom box that size is repeated in the opposite box, that bit I understand. Now if I want to change the ratio clicking the chain symbol (breaks) but as soon as I move the mouse the chain is locked again so I can't find a way to alter the ratio.
There is obviously a correct order to do this so some advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, I think I've found the answer myself. I was double clicking (habit!!) the chain icon not single click. Now works just as it should.

This is probably not going to be very helpful to you now but when Win7 first appeared I was always advised not to install anything to the c:\program files or C:\program files (x86) folders
Instead make a new folder, eg: 'C:\sketchup' to avoid all sorts of admin problems.

I've noticed that this plugin (soap skin and bubble) is not listed on the plugin resources.
Is there any reason for that?

Can't help with the problem but the screencast works fine for me on IE7 and Chrome.

You may well be right. However, I've only been using Sketchup for a few weeks and as a hobby at that. I've been doing re-paints (skins) for the flight Simulator community for the last 10 years or so and all has been freeware. So my use for sketchup is modelling for flight Sim X.(free stuff) I gave up on Gmax and struggled with FSDS. I can't justify spending 100's of £'s on the pro version as well as the fact I'm retired and live on a pension.
So I shall continue bothering all you learned folk here for the best way forward with the free version

I would like to be able to draw lines of various thickness and possibly colour.I've looked at the construction line plugin but that is not what I really need. Are there others that I should look at?
I know I can do it with a circle and follow me but would prefer something much more convenient.

Thank you. I realised about editing componants after I posted.

Very much a newbie here and with GSU 8. I'm experimenting with Sketchup and have done a flight of steps as a componant with move/copy and added uprights and rail with the pen tool. Now I need to provide upright supports for the outside of the treads down to ground level. Is there an 'auto' way or do I have to make a componant and then explode and push/pull each one to the correct height? Does this make sense or would a pic help?
