    • RE: [Plugin] Import STL files

First, thank you for posting the utility - getting this to work will save us so much time.

My STL file is not importing properly. I get the prompt to specify scale then a jumbled version of what I am importing. See image below.

I am using Sketchup 7.0. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

      Thank you.

    • RE: Deck building tutorial

Joe ... that is exactly the tutorial I found last weekend.

Thank you for the link and thank you for taking the time to put the tutorial together.

      You've made my day.

    • Deck building tutorial

Just before my wife closed my browser I had found a fantastic deck building tutorial.

What I am interested in most is how to copy and array out posts, joists and balusters.

In this lost tutorial it illustrated how to draw 5 posts spaced evenly across a certain distance, how to draw one joist and have it array out 16"/24" on center and how to array out balusters on 4"/6" centers between two posts.

As you can imagine doing this manually takes me allot of time.

Can any of you point me in a direction of a tutorial that might help me learn how to perform these functions in SU? I am a dock builder, any other tutorials that may prove useful to my trade are welcome too.

      Thank you in advance.

    • Rope on a Pier

Been lurking and learning here for a few days. My name is Casey, I am an estimator for a boat dock company in South Carolina. I have just recently been learning how to use Sketchup and absolutely love it. Thank you for all for the time you take to contribute here.

I have a dock design I am working on. Our customer wants 1-1/2" Nylon rope (two separate runs, one on top of the other) run between the 6" x 6" posts supporting his stationary dock. I've worked at it for at least an hour and cannot seem to get anything to work. I have included an example including the rope I found in the library. We traditionally run the rope through the 6" x 6", if possible I need to make it appear this way as well.

Any help or direction would really help me.
