Wow, very well done. The only problem I found was that I cant see how those blinds are suspended in mid air. The strings must be hiding.
actually when zoomed into the photo I can see the faint signs of a string...

Website Whoes...
I've decided to revamp my website to something more in-tune with what I'm doing these days, as well as offering what little service I may be able to provide.
Currently (and as I've done before in the past) I've help landscapers put their doodles into CAD to get square footage calcs and have even made up a few 3D models to help show their vision to their client.... I also can model homes, which I like to do, as well as equipment, products, etc.
Being involved with the Fire Service I also specialize in "pre-plan simulation", basically I take blueprints to a building or site and see if there are going to be issues in regard to Engines being able to access the building, and to look for possible trouble areas (overhangs, etc.) that might hinder Apparatus from accessing an area.
My current site is meh. Are their any good templates or sites that I should check out for some design help? I'm normally pretty design savvy, but lately i've been drawing a blank.

My situation is like yours...
ΒΏIs it a real model like Liebherr? I saw one in 3D Warehouse. Good work, I hope to see it finished
the real thing is a CASE 880D Track-hoe.... one day I'll finish it

WIP - Construction Equipment
Here is an idea I got from another thread... then after messing around with the design in SU I decided to actually give a go at rendering... I choose Kerkythea as my rendering program... I'm still getting used to it and I've got a long way to go...
Anyway, my family owns a construction company (no, i don't work for them) and I've always wanted to put together a simulation excavation site or something along those lines...
here we go (the first is a Clay render, and the other two are somewhat following the actual paint scheme:

RE: .three_cabins... WIP
wicked cool! the first one reminds me of a house boat for some reason... anyway, these are looking good!

RE: Knowing that you should know better...
thanks for the words of wisdom everyone...
i am partial about the shots babies get these days, and I am torn whether or not I think they are worth it...
anyway, things are much better, my wife feels much better and right now we can deal with a pitiful child of ours... the poor kiddo is just a mess since this shot, the worst thing is her sleep schedule, it's totally gotten messed up... oh well.
i took her to the firehouse tonight to see the Fire Engines, she was mystified by their size, but overall I think she just had fun walking around with dad i took some cellphone pictures, but none of them turned out good. oh well.

Knowing that you should know better...
Well, in a nutshell this week has been very busy for me. On top of work, I've had class every night, and the occasional fire call just as I'm about to go to sleep.
My wife hasn't been feeling too well and being pregnant we are making sure that everything is okay and we're hoping her pains and such are just being pregnant after her previous c-section. To make matters worse our 15 mo old got her shots yesterday and since then has had sore legs and is very irritable (not to mention her molars are coming in). The other night she cried uncontrollably for 5 hours... I've been fortunate enough to be able to work from home these last two days so I'm helping my wife rest and trying to work and watch after our little bean who is just in pain (not so much today)
anyway, the point of my thread: here it is, 11:42pm, I'm running on very little sleep and I know I should be going to bed, but here I am, restlessly typing away.
ever get like that? you know you should just go to bed and get some rest, but your mind is just racing and you end up staying away?

RE: PL1 File Viewer or some help pls...

CADken,
Try this site for a client viewer - http://www.chiefarchitect.com/resources/viewerrequest.phpThat's a Chief Architect floor plan file format. I'm not sure you can export anything from the client viewer, however - you might just have to export a screen shot.
Milo
thanks, I'll give this a shot first!

PL1 File Viewer or some help pls...
A client sent over a .PL1 file and I see that it's a 3D Landscape program or something of that sort... does anyone have a viewer for this file, I'd rather not have to buy this program just to view one file.
any suggestions are welcome.
thanks.

Thank you.
Added just a little more - still missing the windshield and bunch of details . . . I love this project - could do it in 1/2 the time and more accurately if I did it again . . . I guess that means I'm learning, right?
Happy Sketching,
Brad
looking really good Brad! keep it up!

RE: My old sport backhoe :) Aug 2007
@cadken said:
very nice for a concept... although around here those tires would be gone and replaced with tracks and i'd be referred to as a "track hoe"... plus a backhoe is usually a type of tractor with a bucket in the front and a hoe in the back.... hence "backhoe"
sorry, coming from a construction family i'm weird like that.
here is an example of a trackhoe - minus the bucket and a few cylinders:
