    • RE: Some Navigation Suggestions

Actually, I've only tried zoom extents a couple of times, but it seemed to distort what I was looking at. I guess, or I think (not sure which!), that it zoomed the whole component to fill the screen. I simply want to move the area I'm working on to the center of the screen.

I'll have to try it again. Maybe I didn't see what I thought I did!

      Thanks!

    • Some Navigation Suggestions

A couple of things that I think would improve SketchUp navigation:

      1. A way to one-click (context menu?) change camera to the opposite end of the component. Not like flip along axis because I want the whole model to flip even though I'm working on a single component. Also, not the camera-view menu/buttons, because I don't necessarily remember which side of the model I'm working on. Heat of the moment, and all that.

For example: I'm working on a slat, say for a bed, creating a mortise. I want a right-click that flips ME to the other end of the component. So, if I was looking at the right side of the model, focused on one component, I'm now looking at the left side of the model, but focused on the opposite end of the same component.

      1. Another context-menu button that immediately places what I'm working on in the middle of the screen. It's sort of uncomfortable for me to work on something in the lower-left corner of the screen (character defect, I guess). I want, with one click -- and without changing orientation or zoom level -- to move the component (and the model surrounding it) to the middle of the screen.

For example: Same as above, but the slat is the fifth of five. Rather than click on the pan button, or use the center-button + left-button mouse gesture (on Win), I just want to right click on the place where I'm working, then click "center" on the menu. One thing about the mouse type actions is that it doesn't always work (or I'm clumsy), and ends up orbiting rather than panning. I can't freaking stand that!

      Cheers!
