I have an intel-based mac, so the system requirements are no problem for me, but I DO have an issue with the free trial.
My issue is, I've already downloaded it a while back, but had forgotten I did, and never noticed until the trial period was over. so, I'm kind of stuck.

Unity 3D: any advice?
I'm thinking of buying an easy-to-use game creating program called Unity for 200$, but don't know if it would be a good investment, and would like to get some advice from anyone with experience on the matter. I might just use the free game creator in blender, but unity looks much nicer, and I can't decide.
the site for the program can be found here: http://unity3d.com/ -
RE: A Fun Little Game, Continued...
granted, now you're in law school 24/8; they expect your family to chip in a few hours too.
I wish SketchUp would use UV maps, aswell as have a paint-on-surface tool, like in the higher-end programs (modo & such)

RE: A Fun Little Game, Continued...
Granted, but it has no windows or doors.
Hopefully you can walk through walls.I wish I knew what to wish for.

RE: Gaming discussions
personally, I've been wondering the exact same things.
http://unity3d.com/gallery/live-demos/avert-fate <-Here's a small 3D game (mac and windows), made with a commercial videogame making program (mac only) called Unity 3D. Great graphics for something made with a do-it-youself program.
Imports meshes, animation and bones among other things from many different modeling programs (blender including)I might get the 200$ version, but have to do some research to find out how above-my-head it is to use.
I'd also check out the online examples on the bottom of the linked page, the water and lighting effects are great

I just spent a few minutes looking into thi in more depth, and it's not really a useable program per se. Its a bunch of libraries to build into a program. So its not really useful for me. I have no programming abilities.
Maybe Todd, Rick, TBD, or someone else wants to develop a robust cross platform free version for SU
That includes animation no doubt!Chris
I know it's not a program, that's why I made sure not to include the word program in the title of the thread, but it DOES come with example applications that you can run. My first Idea was to replace the model used in an example with one of my own, exported as a .wrl file, and although I did that, I couldn't find where in any of the code it specified what model to use, and there were no tutorials to show how.

His IP address in on his guestbook at his site. from all the info he's givin, including name, town/city (from IP address, not the lie about new york), E-mail,(I think age; Imagebucket account is kev1995) and more, I think we can saftley say he's not a conspiracy

RE: Sketchup and real inflatables
Very nice! Did you take the models all apart manually? There are some scripts around to do the same thing...

...And Here's a use for it!

Now you could see how a room would ACTUALLY look with different furniture.
...After checking, I found out that this was made with ARive, an application made with ARtoolkit. -
RE: CHUCK NORRIS
Chuck Norris once was denied an egg Mc.muffin at McDonalds, because it was after 11:00. He then roundhouse kicked the store so hard it became a Wendy's.

Unfortunately though, there does not seem to be a mac version of the plugin.

Free augmented reality: ARToolkit
After seeing the augmented reality program in the ruby forums, I decided to go out and find a free one. I'm kind of an internet dumpster-diver if you will; I almost never actually buy any software. I get it all for free.
Anyways, here's a link to the site: http://www.hitl.washington.edu/artoolkit/documentation/userintro.htm
After a few minutes, I had already gotten it some examples up and running, but am yet to find a way to import sketchup files into it. So, I posted the link here, hoping someone (smarter than me) would download it, try it, and find out how.

RE: Car (W.I.P.)
You couldn't have waited until it actually resembled a car, you just HAD to post it after like a half hour. -
RE: Stuff Topic (Once "My Projects and W.I.P.s")
i didn't find it funny untill the later pages, at the start I thought it just sucked.

RE: Stuff Topic (Once "My Projects and W.I.P.s")
And just when it was getting so bad it was funny...

RE: [Plugin] BoolTools just released!
Not knowing much about rubys, or any kind of scripts for that matter, and not having purchased BoolTools, what are the advantages of purchasing this over getting the free Oscar tools?

RE: Stuff Topic (Once "My Projects and W.I.P.s")
so. . . .
Kevin. What law school are you going to anyways?
