Evening all,
Two quick questions which probably have answers somewhere on the forum but I always get sidetracked so... I've been asked if I can import DWG or/and DXF files into SU Pro 6 - can I do this plus also I've read that SU animate is a free plug-in but I thought it was just a trial version - does anyone know what the case actually is? RE: Happy Holidays
Merry Xmas from a snowy Northern England. This day last year I had one child - today i have 3 and the latest 2 are not twins or adopted! I know - crazy but fantastic! Thanks to everyone for the entertainment and insight over 2009 and I look forward to more inspiration from Sketchucation on 2010!!

RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
Cant remember where I found the sketchup.rb file. I'll check thru my history files - think I probably googled "sketchup.rb download" and then just searched through!

RE: Plug-in problems
Thanks Jeff, Thanks Dale - for some reason I dont get the option "show contents package" but then again it crashes every time you double click so there is something amiss. Thanks for the zip file - great stuff - I can get on with the drawing my producer is chomping at the bit for!!

RE: Plug-in problems
David,
Have been right clicking on what I presume is the installer - a box that says double click to install. However when I right click I am not given the option "show contents." I've tried right clicking on the .dmg icon but that doesn't help either. Have you any other ideas? Many thanks -
RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
I've just had a eureka moment!! Thanks Jeff and thanks ThomThom - it's obvious that I'm not that computer literate isn't it?! If only I had followed ThomThom's directions to the letter earlier we wouldn't still be here!!?

RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
From what I can gather it cant ever have been there. I've read that this has been a bit of a problem with SU6 - some copies just didn't ship with it and some sketchup.rb files were old versions and didn't work with SU6. I downloaded a copy from somewhere - may well have been an archived page from the Google site but it didn't work

RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
Thanks TIG. SU looks in plugins according to that string. I've time machined back to an earlier version of my SU and got all the plugins back but I have noticed that it never had sketchup.rb in there. Neither is there a tools folder available. Do you have the plug-in sketchup.rb at all?

RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
Ah ok! I'll drag the plugins folder out of contents and see how I go. Cheers.

RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
Yep - thats what I do. I'm on SUPro6 but there shouldn't be a difference. I've just tried downloading your link hello.rb but still the same result. Right clicking on mac doesn't say save but download which goes to the download folder. I've even then dragged it onto the desktop and then into the plugins folder but I cannot find it in SU anywhere. One thing though, since erasing all previous plug-ins which didn't work, I've lost Plug-ins from the drop down menu so maybe I should back up an older version. Pretty frustrating though because for all the joys of a Mac, I never had this problem on a PC!

RE: Plug-in problems
Thanks David. Everything does seem to be set up fine - I make sure Sketchup is off when I drop the .rb files into the plugins folder but I've had no luck. However, I will follow your instructions and let you know how I go. Thanks again!

RE: Mac OSX and plugin problems
Hi ThomThom,
I go into applications>Google Sketchup>Contents>Plugins folder and drop .rb files in there. I make sure Sketchup is turned off when I do this. Then when I fire up Sketchup I cannot find them in either the menu bar or in any context menu!? What do you think?

Mac OSX and plugin problems
Despite downloading .rb plugins into the plugin folder they will not show up in Sketchup. Does anyone have any ideas why? Is it a Mac problem?

Plug-in problems
When I used SU5 pro with plug-ins and a pc the only problem I had was the occassional BugSplat crash. I'm now on a Mac using OSX and SU6 pro and very happy. However, I cannot, for the life of me, open any downloaded plugins. They are all sitting there in my plugins folder - sphere.rb, unfold, sketch styles etc but I cannot get to use them. The one I need more than any other is the film & stage plugin as I design for TV and I know that there is a problem getting it onto the Mac but I've read about opening it as it is only a .dmg file and copying all .rb files but I can't do that either via Disk Utility. I'm probably being tremendously thick but does anyone know a simple workaround for this??
Cheers! Bowesy
