    • MSPhyics in SketchUp 2016 - Camera clipping and zoom problem

I'm having trouble with MSPhysics in SketchUp 2016.

I just installed MSP and AMS library. When I start the simulation and move objects around, after a while, all objects start to slowly clip away, like I'm zooming in too close, but I'm not zooming.

When I do zoom, the view flies a long way away to where I can no longer see the model or objects.
When I try to zoom back in, the view seems to zip by at light speed and I miss the objects I was trying to zoom in to.

I created a static mesh "tray" to keep the objects in. It is not far from the origin.

I tried different FOV settings and resetting to 35, but zoom still behaves strangely.

      Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, but I'm still getting the bugsplat.

I uninstalled 64bit and tried 32bit of SU 2015. First I tried with the original MSP/AMS - same result. Next, I tried with latest MSP/AMS. No good.

I'll try SU 2015 64bit again, this time with latest MSP/AMS versions.

Could I be missing some C++ runtime or .Net framework or other low level library?

I've tried uninstalling other programs, updating drivers, shutting off services - nothing seems to make a difference.

SU 2015 leaves no hint or trace in Windows Event Log so there's no clue as to what's going on.

I did notice something strange when I installed SU 2015 32bit. The installer complained about needing to update something that was in use by another program. It listed the Motorola Device Manager Service - I believe that's part of the install for my Motorola smartphone. I let installer do the update - the Motorola service crashed, but later I looked at the running services and it had restarted normally.
That made me think there might be some other runtime that's being troublesome.

Turns out I was using the latest release.

Oh well - didn't make a difference. Still crashes.

I removed all traces and folders of the previous install. Then, I downloaded and installed SU 2015 64 bit again. I added MSP and AMS. No go. bugsplat.

My Win 7 system is just messed up somehow.

I'll start looking at other drivers that might be conflicting, but I have a strong suspicion my system is faulty and just not up to 3D physics.

At any rate, MSP looks incredible. I look forward to working with it. Hopefully I'll get a system capable of running it soon.

Thanks again. Keep up the great work.

      Anton_S,

Thanks for your help on this. There must be something wrong with my system.

One of the first things I tried was to remove the MSP and AMS Library plugins, as well as remove the unnecessary Ruby 1.8. I added the MSP and AMS plugins back, but still had the bugsplat.

I also tried updating my video driver, but same result. Then I tried switching off hardware acceleration under the OpenGL preference, but it crashes just the same.

I'll try removing SU 2015. I remember when SU 2015 was first released, it was buggy for some folks when it came to the free Make mode licensing after 30 day trial period. I'll download the latest release and try again.

      Thanks.

I make a basic model with a plane and a cube or sphere. SU always crashes when I hit play button on MSP.

I'm having trouble getting MSPhysics to work. I'm using SketchUp Make 2015, not Pro. Is this plugin intended and working for SU Pro only?

I'm running MS Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I downloaded and extracted MSPhysics 0.2.1 and AMS Library 2.2.0 to the plugins folder. I downloaded and extracted msvcrt-ruby18.dll to the main SU program folder.

When I create a cube and click the play button on the MSP toolbar, a few seconds later I get a bugsplat.

I remember when SketchyPhysics worked in earlier versions of SU, you made a ground plane and then you could build and manipulate objects on it. Does MSP require a ground plane? Do I need to assign MSP attributes to objects? Also, I don't see the advanced toolbars like the demo video shows. What am I missing?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks.
