    • RE: Roof Membrane Advice

      Well Fred ,
We like to do the things with EPDM roofing that are (almost) impossible.
Al our Epdm-roofs are produced from cad files ,every 3D-form is first drawn in Sketchup
Surveyes on existing roofs are done by trilateration of the differend faces of the roof.
a nice free piece of software to help with this is ''Sketchflat".
Dome-like structures can only be approximeted EPDM Dome.skp
Please post a sample file of a roofing face and i will let you now if it can be prefabricated.

      Greetings Bep van Malde.

      Hello Fred,

Have you considerd a prefabricated EPDM rubber roofing membrane?
Look at vbbv.com for some initial information.
See also http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=fish+and+swimponds+Bep&btnG=Zoeken&styp=m for some more information on what can be prefabricated in EPDM.
If you need more info please send me a e-mail at bep(at)vbbv.com

      hallo,

Look at this site for some older freeware 2d cad programs.

    • Get inspired

      Dear Ruby programmers/users ,

I have asked on this (and the old Sketchupforum) forum for a trilateration Ruby for many times .
For some reason until now it was not possible for the programmers to write a Ruby that could do that.
I however kept searching the web for a solution that could assist me with trilateration.
Now I have found a open source freeware program that comes close to what I was looking for .
It is called Sketchflat ( probably a coincident ) its a fantastic simple easy to use 2D cad program only 380kb., even the code is downloadable
It is written by Jonathan Westhues whom I wish to thank for his effort ,and sharing.
It has parametric dimensioning and a geometric constraints solver ,you can download it at http://www.cq.cx/sketchflat.pl
It is designed primarily to generate CAM output data, for manufacturing on a laser cutter, water jet machine, vinyl cutter, 3-axis mill, or other machine tool.
It can export to DXF ,HPGL ,and G Code.
I am sure it will also be useful to other sketchuppers ,and probably inspire the programmers to make a Ruby ,or a Add-on ,if possible like this for Sketchup.

(Dear Gaieus if this is not the appropriate place for my post ,than please put it on the right forum.)

      Greetings,

    • RE: An idea... a construction arc

      Hallo Brad,

A real construction arc, would be a mathemathicly correct circle part,
Like a real contruction circel would be a mathematicly correct circel.
The circumfence could be a dashed line as the construction line-tool makes, to indicate that it is not a part of the model and to let you now now that you can't make any faces with these tools.
It could make accurate trilateration possible within Sketchup.

      Greetings, Bep van Malde

      hallo liebes Forum

      hello,

You got the sulutiom from fhe Sketchyphysics MASTER himself.
I opend the file and played with it ,i have edited the joints setting of the joint on the crankshaft some what to get it working (the lubrication on my pc is probably not working very well).
I attached the working file for you

      Hallo Gidon,

Look at the the 3D warehouse (search for "Bep"),you wil find my model (made in a project together with my 14 year old son Jan) for a 2 cilinder BMW boxer engine just explode the model and turn on al hidden geometry ,now examine and see how it is build up just with the the standard shapes that where groupt together.
You wil also see some trails of types of valve trains.
I hope this solves a part of your question, and saves your marriage.
Please dont hessitate to ask if you think that i can be of any further help.
