    • RE: IMPORTING FROM AUTOCAD

Annsi - correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think AutoCad 2008 LT has express tools, hence I cannot use flatten as an option. I am sorry if this is inconvenience but I am new to both Autocad 2008lt and the free verson of sketchup 6 and still trying to understand them both. Please let me know what you would do, and if it will require me to download or pruchase any additional tools, left out in the 08 lt version. Thanks agaun for all your time and consideration.

      Annsi -

I have tried your idea and it is not working, It is my belief that the solution you gave me dealt with the pro version of sketchup, I cannot export the sketchup drawing as a dwg and then reimport it. Let me know what you think, and if purchasing the lisp is a good solution. My other thought and i have not tried it, is to create a scaled pdf import it into sketchup and then scale the import accordingly. Thanks Again.

I have quickly searched for the export to autocad button and have had no luck finding it, it is apart of the trial version of sketchup 6 and if so am I missing something? Thanks for the help though.

    • IMPORTING FROM AUTOCAD

I am just starting out in sketchup and my need now and in the future will be importing from autocad. I am running autocad 2008lt and the trial version of sketchup 6. My question is: What is the best method for bring imports in? I have found importing dwg's really shows linework floating over other line work, which you would typically not see in autocad. Is it better to make a scaled PDF? and is there a way to specify my location when importing so the origin and rotation are on the axis? Please let me know. Thank You

    • I need "Getting Started" Advice

I am a landscape architect working in a small office. My employer is stoked about sketchup and put me in charge of obtaining and learning it? I have Questions.

      1. Is sketchup.com the only place to purchase sketchup pro, If not where is the cheapest?

      2. Two of us will be mainly working with it, is is cheaper to buy two individual seats over the network. What are the pro and cons of both options besides money?

      3. Once we purchase sketchup, what tutorials do you think are the best and most comprehensive. If I am going to learn it, I want to know the most possible, not a watery
        version. What would you recommend?

      Thank You.
