These are a couple of images I did, based on an apartment I saw on ArchDaily, located in Alcantara, Portugal. The play of colors throughout the apartment is really cool I think!
Let me know how it looks! Really pleased with how these turned out πŸ˜„

I'd be concerned if my egg whites were so foamy and yolk needs more orange IMO

I think the foamy look might simply be a result of Twilight's poor (in my opinion) ability to render liquids and translucent materials well. It looks like it's the very edges of the egg white are nice and clear, and then it gets blurry/foamy the further from the edge you get.

I think a white backdrop behind the egg would solve this problem quite nicely...the egg white material is picking up the pinkish background behind it and refracting the light weirdly. I'd be interested to see the same materials on white!

Got impatient at around 500 samples and stopped the render πŸ˜† Might let it render overnight to clear all the noise.

What kind of system do you have? I only ask because the optix denposer (if you have a supporting Nvidia graphics card) could help you save a lot of time.

Good call on the Optix! I was trying to use it while the render was going, and it just slowed it down to a crawl. However, I tried it AFTER the render was finished and it worked a charm. Oops πŸ˜†

This one was rendered at 1875x2500, and I stopped the render after 10 minutes.

Trying to get a bright, Scandinavian look with Thea. Pretty much straight out of the engine, with some slight color and contrast adjustments in Photoshop.

A bit too washed out if I'm honest mate, some more contrast would lift it a lot.

You're right! I had the burn set way too high and it was washing out all the white tones. Hopefully this one looks a bit better!

That's great! Did you use a Thea material from the online repository for the shade, or what is your approach for that. I always find shades difficult.

Thanks pbacot! The shade is actually just a single layer Thea material I set up myself! I put a marble texture in the diffuse slot, and then copied the same texture to the transparency slot with the brightness increased +15. There is a very thin "shell" on the inside of the shade, scaled down very slightly, with an emission material applied to it, and this is what's generating the light. It then blends out of the translucent shade texture very nicely. I hope that makes some amount of sense!

    • Bauhaus Lamp

I had so much fun with the last lighting piece, I figured I'd try another (slightly more exciting) one! This is a Bauhaus lamp from sometime in the 1920's I believe, and I really loved the "floating" aspect of the shade!

      Thea as always!

      Hey all!

Back with another fun project, this time a classy little ceiling light! I feel like I finally have a really good lighting setup down, and I'm excited to keep testing it out. Feedback appreciated as always!
