Jackson - thanks. The key to painting snow, is to use a good photo-reference. Then use the colour-picker in photshop to sample the colours directly from the photo. The shadow colours are never quite what you expect them to be! By using sampled colours, the results are always better than judging by eye A.

Thanks cheffey. Mainly trial + error, to be honest. I've found a lot of good inspiration here to: http://www.conceptart.org A.

@unknownuser said: Politics...religion!! I feel that they should be completely shut out of here...I have rarely seen those threads go anywhere but finnally into the toilet. I deleted a thread once. ( I could get rid of it cause I was a moderator at the time) Of course there was a great cry about it and I expected that, but like you I thought the thread had turned to poisen and it needed to be killed and removed so that all wouldn't stumble into the sh*t. that is purely your opinion. I have a different opinion which I am entitled to. I resent you trying to force your opinion onto me by deleting threads, thank you very much. I might add you don't even have the courtesy to indicate where you come from in your profile.

Alexander: yes, lots of PS, using a Wacom tablet. Colour and Black/white versions exported from SU, then lots of layering-up and hand 'painting' The trick is, as with traditional markers, to keep the pen moving. I always keep the whole image visible on the screen, and work on the image as a whole, without zooming in and getting obsessed with the details. The beauty is that, within reason, the faster and looser you work, the better it looks A. LOL - Paul Russam

Hi Tina. Not much to say really... Straight 3DS export from SU. Background, lighting and camera animation all done in MAX. Single camera constrained to a spline path, and a lighting set up of 16 omni lights, all with mapped shadows. All the images on the walls were also applied in MAX - just because I find it quicker, easier and more easily adjustable than in SU. The other materials were straight from the SU Model. Rendered at 640 X 480 pixels, 2000 frames at 30fps, it took about 4hrs to render on a dual-core Pentium PC. (But I did turn-off ray-traced reflections on the floor and glass to speed the render times.) Thanks for the kind words. A.
