The grass was done by using alpha maps for transparency. It is the same process of doing what people call "smart tress". If you are not familiar with the process just post here again and I'll explain it better cuz now i g2g to work! heheh
Cheers!

Here is another render study I've just finished. The model is from the 3DWH. I just rendered it out and configured the materials.

This is a lamp designed by me! It's acctually my very firts piece of any design heheh. All modeling done in sketchup and rendered in Modo
This is my latest render piece. The modelling was offered by "Gus R" on this topic -> http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=35768
It is a great model ideed! Render done on Modo, no post-production on this one.
All of these scenes below are for studying purposes only. All modelling done on SketchUp. Render done on Modo. Post production on PS
@modelhead
eevn though the render engine (modo 401) has a built in DOF dystem, I couln't get it right, I kept getting extremely noisy results. After several failing attempts I decided to render ir without DOF and just make it on Photoshop using the good ol' blur tool hehehe
Thanks for replying! Maybe around december I'll do somethinh envolving easter eggs haha
Oh well, I know we're in March still, BUT... I just love shiny balls haha
The 'model' ball was originated in SketchUp then replicated in Luxology Modo for the render. Post production made in PS. It's just a silly image, but I kinda like it! Looks like happy and peaceful, dunno why Comments and critics are welcome as usual
Hello, people! I modeled this scane in order to study essencially rendering on Modo 501. All the modelling and texturing was made within SketchUp. Total process took something between 4 and 6 hours, that long because I was designing the current scene at the same time I was modeling it. Here's a picture of the final render, and the link to the video that shows the entire modeling stage. I hope you enjoy it! As always there are more modeling videos on my channel.
Critics are always welcome. If you have any please don't save it to yourself

That soft brush tool just blew my mind out!!
Is that plugin already available or does it come along with SDS2?
Nice Work! I can see that Lumion staff still didn't fix the reflection on glass material surfaces hehe. Anyway, still a great piece!
Awesome work! I never figured out how to use SDS1 properly, maybe I'll give it another shot when this second comes out hehe
Any ideas of how much will the plugin cost?
Hello, folks! So yesterday I have finnaly acomplished a sactisfatory result to myself. I hope you guys make some constructive critics.
The layout of the room is my design, I modelled the big green furniture piece on the left wall, the windows and few other stuff. 70% of the model was obtained in 3dwh. (sofa included hehe).
Workflow: Sketchup > Modo > PhotoShop

@ecofeco
Hello! I tried with the shadows on, and I knows it makes a BIG difference, buy those trees are really heavy on the drawing and their shadows are even heavier! With shadows on the render time wen from 30 minutes (no shadows) to aprox 20 hours (with shadows). It was just insane. I could waot that time, but knowing SketchUp the chances the program or my pc would crash during the process were too high.
ps: I got a i7-860, 6 gb ddr 3 1333 mhz and a GTX 260.
(seriously, I just cant explain why with shadows it would take SO MUCH LONGER. hehehe)
Thx for the coments anyway! See you
Hello people! This is a project I've been working on for my family's farm. I decided to make a quick animation to show them what the lodge will be like. Aprox. 40 secs of vΓdeo at 800x450 and 15 fps. Took SketchUp about 25 minutes do process the animation. Post editing made in Camtasia Studio 7. (And I hope you dont mind the music, its Brazilian folk music, OLD folk music hahaha).
Here is the link to the video on YouTube, and a quick snapshot of the final model. I'm looking forward to opinions so I can get better at this! See you!
