Wow
Nice lighting. What's with the Lara Croft character?

RE: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi
The texturing is great, with plenty of variation giving it life.
But I'm guessing most of it is painted in PS (like scrathes and highlighted areas). -
RE: Kerkythea main site up and running
Looks very pretty and more organised. But I don't suppose work is being done on Kerkythea anymore? Apart from Thea

RE: Kitchen Renderings
I agree with Mike about the floor. Even if the client didn't mention it.
It could use a cooker hood/range hood. -
RE: Daylight room
Looks really good apart from the sofa on the right. The fabric looks too plain and generic,
and there are some lighting issues (odd square shadows). -
RE: Brick and glass office tower
Interesting design, although it doesn't look very realistic.
Hard to see what is sustaining all those bricks on some of the top floors.
Surely not glass. -
RE: Top
I understand the "?" because that looks confusing.
You could at least have removed the guidelines -
RE: [?] Hotkey for softening edges
I can't thank you enough. Great tips!
I should study the manual harder -
[?] Hotkey for softening edges
I've been trying to find an easy way to soften edges instead of right clicking (see image);
hoping there would be a kind of hotkey - simpy holding down a key and clicking the edge, for example. What do you do when many edges must be softened?
Choosing many edges and selecting 'soften/smooth edges' will create weird shadow effects (see image).
(Other software has means to avoid this, but not SU)

Guys give me some critique don't be shy.
If you want critique, then don't make it so perfect
That said, the exterior in the first image is a little confusing.
A bright white/blue sky; and is it a big, blue cloud? Not sure what I'm looking at basically. -
RE: The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi
It certainly looks very organic, like insects.

RE: 1934 McQuay-Norris Streamliner
Great looking car. Perfectly modelled, with high degree of detail.
The article says:
"A drop of water falling through the air takes this shape naturally
because of the resistance of the air through which it is falling"That's confusing. I would think the law of gravity made a drop of water fall approximating a ball - with or without resistance of air.
I must find a sink and experiment -
RE: The Art of SketchUp - part 1: Fantasy
Impressive. The red car looks kind of small, and it's also a nice car for someone living in a 'shed'.

RE: The Art of SketchUp - part 1: Fantasy
I make models for (historical) mods (the little known indie game Mount&Blade), and fun.
But very poorly - not even close to your level.Anyway, back to you now. This thread is great inspiration and motivation

RE: Warped UVs with obj. exporter
Nothing to purge and no problems found.
The textures have been rotated very simply - in this case - about 45 degrees.
Some of the issues are with geometry that was rotated as components (and then exploded)
but others are not. I don't see a pattern.
