RE: Aconnolls WIP
Another update on the rat rod. Engine in, need to do gearbox, radiator but am going to leave it fairly simplistic as its going to be rendered in the toon/600v style.

RE: Aconnolls WIP
Had some fun with lighting and am loving the toon effect on VRay. Only just starting to explore textures/materials. The light settings can be a real pain so I just deal with it by placing everything in a large box. Seems to do the trick if I dont want natural/sunlight type light.
Any idea on what causes that "ripping" effect underneath the lights on the left hand side? The shadows dont look too bad but I cant seem to find any setting that corrects the strange tearing effect.

Here is another vehicle ive been working on. Its some sort of complex mobile research facility?? Perhaps designed for harsh or semi-hostile environments.

Aconnolls WIP
Hi All,
Sometime ago I introduced myself on here and have since been head down arse up
Ive finally done something I feel I can actually post up without being too embarrassed haha. I feel like ive grasped a few modelling concepts and have been hugely inspired by many on here but also mostly by ixlrlxi/600v. His style is right up my alley and im sure from my WIP below you will clearly see the influence.
Please note I have no idea on rendering and am only just starting to learn about rendering after devoting all my time to modelling techniques so go easy
I will start trawlling the net on VRay rendering tutorials soon.
Hope I can inspire someone one day as much as alot of you on here have done for me.
Cheers,
Adam -
RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members
Hello all, Id like to introduce myself. Iām Adam from Perth, Western Australia.
Iāve been lurking on this forum for a while now but havenāt contributed (yet). Iāve been āhobby modellingā on and off since the 486 days when I used to use a program I think called āCAD 3Dā or something by Expert? That was a long time ago. Recently, my passion for modelling has been rekindled and I picked up Sketchup about 6 months ago. It was slow going for me at the start but I eventually read everything I could, looked at every tutorial I could, and was immensely inspired by the works of ixlrlxi/600v (amongst many others, some on here).
I then found this forum and was blessed by the fantastic content and willing help available. I commend all of the contributors and regulars that help out new modellers. I hope to one day have the ability to help out the newbies.
My interest in modelling is definitely cars and machinery in general. Whilst I havenāt had much luck with making decent cars, ive recently started playing around with SDS and will likely purchase Artisan soon. I hope to have a model of a car soon for all of the seniors to critique and hope to refine my mesh making skills. The more I research, the more Iām overwhelmed with just how many different ways there are of doing things. Using plug-ins, not using plug-ins, etc.. all I can do is baby steps I suppose and im sure to some it just comes naturally.
Anyway, a big thank you for all the great work being done here
Cheers,
