Aconnolls WIP

Hi All,
Sometime ago I introduced myself on here and have since been head down arse up
Ive finally done something I feel I can actually post up without being too embarrassed haha. I feel like ive grasped a few modelling concepts and have been hugely inspired by many on here but also mostly by ixlrlxi/600v. His style is right up my alley and im sure from my WIP below you will clearly see the influence.
Please note I have no idea on rendering and am only just starting to learn about rendering after devoting all my time to modelling techniques so go easy
I will start trawlling the net on VRay rendering tutorials soon.
Hope I can inspire someone one day as much as alot of you on here have done for me.
Cheers,
Adam -

Cool designs! Love the semi-retro look.

Had some fun with lighting and am loving the toon effect on VRay. Only just starting to explore textures/materials. The light settings can be a real pain so I just deal with it by placing everything in a large box. Seems to do the trick if I dont want natural/sunlight type light.
Any idea on what causes that "ripping" effect underneath the lights on the left hand side? The shadows dont look too bad but I cant seem to find any setting that corrects the strange tearing effect.

Gday, yeah im using VRay plugin. It's not bad at giving a toon effect, in the couple of days ive been playing with it. I essentially wanted something that would just trace with a black line but it doesnt quite work like that. It does the job for me though, as ive modelled my way around its limitations that ive found.

The wheel arches, I think it would be better to Make the front wheel arche flush with the wheels and the back arches to be more rounded like the front arches, ha does that make sense? Great model

haha I think so, the only reason I set the front wheels back so far into the arch is because the small cut out is just for design. The wheels need to turn and would foul on the arches if they were any closer. Think of the front arches like the rear of a BX Citroen
Thanks for the suggestion though
Speaking of the toon render, ive found if you set the normal threshold from .01 to .99, you get more outlines on the circular patterns. I didnt do that in the red concept retro but will show you in some newer renders to come of various things. I want to attempt a toony looking ED-209. Whether or not I can pull it off is the question haha..
