    • RE: Change order of objects in dynamic component?

      **"use outliner"

This only lets you change the parenting of the sub-components it seems. The components are listed alphabetically in Outliner so no way to change the order here that I can see.

But the listing of components in the Component Attributes window doesn't follow the Outliner anyway. As halroach points out, the components there are listed with the last created at the bottom of the list. A bit of a pain when the number of components grows so large that the parent attributes disappears off the top and you have to keep scrolling up and down.

It would also be nice if you could change the order of Component Options on that particular window so you could group the parameters in some kind of logical sequence. I guess the solution to that is to get so competent building DC's that you have those sequences already planned out before you start!**

    • RE: SketchUp 2017 Wishlist

Well the enhanced arc/circle inference snaps in SU16 came a baby step closer to better snap control but is still not there so that is one of my wishes.

But my most fervent wish (still unfulfilled after more versions than I can count) is a fix to Boolean operations that turn Components into Groups. This is such egregious behaviour that I consider it a major bug. It destroys all the efficient and productive effects of using Components.

      Please Trimble. Please fix this.

      1. A way to force snaps to midpoint of a line or circle, instead of hunting along a line where you think the midpoint is, or having it select everything except the required center of a circle in a crowded area.

      2. Allow inferences to work with reference (construction) lines not on the same plane as the item you are moving. That is, so that reference lines act more like reference planes.

      3. Stop Boolean operations in the Pro version from changing components into groups. Have a way to toogle between this new behaviour or maintaining the current behaviour if that is desired.

      Installed V0.5.6 in Sketchup2015 Pro on Win8.1.

Works great now. Will be experimenting over the next few days.

Thank you for your focused efforts to get it running for everyone.

      Sorry pgarmyn,

I see that you posted a fixed 0.5.5 version. That is the one I installed on this Win8.1 laptop and it seems that I am getting the same type of error as hgdar:

      pggarmyn,

I ran your ruby code in the console and got this: result = C:/Users/Mark-MSI/Documents/

Note that this is on a different computer (my laptop for travelling) but I am getting the same errors with this plugin. Previous machine was running Win7, this one Win8.1

I have not changed any of the default file locations in Sketchup

Sorry pgarmyn, I've been travelling for the past two days and have just now seen your reply to my question.

I will try to work out what folders it is trying to access and their permission status.

      Thanks

This looks like it may be a very useful plugin but I cannot get it to work.

I installed by way of the SketchUcation plugin. It seened to install without errors in the AppData folder. The Window/Preferences/Extension list showed RichSection to be checked and enabled but nothing shows up in the menus.

When Sketchup is shut down and restarted I received the following list of installation errors:

Deleted everything and tried again with the same result so now I am out of ideas.

      Thanks.

Update: Deleted again and installed by downloading the .rbz file and installing by Sketchup Extensions installer. Running Sketchup as Administrator. Same result.
